To count an elixir trade in Clash Royale, subtract the elixir you spend defending from the elixir your opponent spent on the push. If an 8-elixir push is stopped with 5 elixir, you gain a 3-elixir advantage. Save that surplus to support your next attack, but avoid spending it all at once.
Count the trade, then choose your next action
Use this calculation:
Opponent’s elixir spent − your elixir spent = your elixir advantage
In the 8-for-5 example, the difference is 3 elixir. That number describes the trade; it does not guarantee a tower hit or a winning counter-push.
After a successful defense, the draft recommends building around any surviving defensive units. Add a win condition or secondary damage dealer if you can do so without overcommitting. If nothing survives, keep the elixir advantage for a later offensive cycle.
You can also avoid spending elixir to stop a lone attacker if your tower can safely absorb a few hits. The draft gives no threshold for when that damage is acceptable, so make that choice based on whether the unit poses a direct threat to your win condition.
