To win with the Electro Giant Bowler deck in Clash Royale, play defensively throughout single elixir and wait until double elixir before launching major pushes. Electro Giant costs seven elixir, leaving you vulnerable to counter-attacks if deployed without an elixir lead. Protect your Crown Towers early with low-cost trades, activate your King Tower using Tornado, and use offensive spell combinations to break defensive buildings and ranged snipers once elixir generation doubles.
Deck Card Roles and Costs
This archetype pairs a heavy win condition with sturdy ground anchors, flexible cycle cards, and heavy spell control to force Electro Giant through defensive setups.
| Card | Elixir Cost | Primary Role | Tactical Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electro Giant | 7 | Win Condition | Punish heavy commitments; reflect damage onto swarms and attackers within three tiles |
| Lightning | 6 | Heavy Spell | Reset and destroy defensive buildings and mid-health ranged units |
| Bowler | 5 | Ground Defense | Knock back ground pushes; absorb damage for counter-pushes |
| Phoenix | 4 | Air Defense | Provide single-target anti-air damage and offensive aerial pressure |
| Cannon | 3 | Defensive Building | Kite building-targeting units like Hog Rider, Giant, and Ram Rider |
| Tornado | 3 | Utility Spell | Activate King Tower on defense; pull ranged defenders into Electro Giant's zap radius |
| Bomber | 2 | Cycle / Splash | Clear ground swarms cheaply and rotate through the deck |
| Barbarian Barrel | 2 | Light Spell | Eliminate Goblin Barrel, Princess, and backline support troops |
Single Elixir Defense and King Tower Activation
During the first two minutes of the match, focus entirely on defense, chip damage management, and scouting the opponent’s deck rotation. Dropping Electro Giant at standard elixir speed depletes your reserves and leaves you unable to defend against fast lane pushes like Bridge Spam or Hog Earthquake.
- Place Cannon defensively: Position Cannon in the center, three tiles from the river and four tiles from your Princess Tower, to pull incoming win conditions into range of both Princess Towers.
- Clear support units: Drop Bowler behind your Princess Tower or deploy Barbarian Barrel across the bridge to neutralize ranged glass cannons and ground swarms.
- Trigger an early King Tower activation: When an opponent plays a Hog Rider, Miner, or Goblin Barrel, use Tornado to pull the unit directly to the King Tower before it deals heavy damage to your Princess Tower.
Activating the King Tower early provides permanent defensive assistance for the rest of the match, allowing you to defend subsequent pushes with fewer cards.
Offensive Tornado and Lightning Spell Execution
Electro Giant's passive zap aura stuns and damages attackers within a three-tile radius. Opponents will regularly place defensive buildings and ranged troops outside this zone to whittle down your push safely. Spells are required to bridge that gap:
- Tornado ranged defenders into the aura: When defenders like Musketeer, Magic Archer, Bowler, or defensive Cannons lock onto Electro Giant from a safe distance, cast Tornado to drag them directly onto Electro Giant. Forcing them inside the three-tile radius triggers the reflected zap damage, eliminating them quickly.
- Reset Inferno Towers: Cast Lightning as soon as an Inferno Tower locks onto Electro Giant and begins ramping up its beam. The strike resets the damage ramp and destroys adjacent support troops.
- Clear lightning rods first: If an opponent drops cheap swarms like Skeletons or Bats to absorb Lightning strikes, use Barbarian Barrel or Tornado to clear the swarm before casting Lightning on the intended high-health target.
- Clip Crown Towers conservatively: Only target a Crown Tower with Lightning if you can simultaneously clip a high-value defensive troop, such as an Archer Queen, Little Prince, or Wizard.
Handling Heavy Tank Killers
Hard counters such as PEKKA, Mini PEKKA, and Inferno Dragon require defensive discipline and specific positioning rather than aggressive pushes.
- PEKKA and Mini PEKKA: Never deploy Electro Giant in the same lane as an active enemy PEKKA. Defend in the center with Cannon and Bowler, relying on the Bowler’s boulder knockback to stall ground movement. Only play Electro Giant after the enemy tank killer crosses the river and dies to your defensive fire.
- Inferno Dragon: When an Inferno Dragon attacks from outside the reflection radius, cast Tornado to drag it directly onto Electro Giant. Entering the aura triggers the zap reflection, which repeatedly resets the Inferno Dragon’s beam and prevents it from reaching peak damage.
Double and Triple Elixir Transitions
When double elixir begins at the two-minute mark, your strategy transitions from passive defense to sustained lane pressure:
- Build from the back: Start Electro Giant behind your King Tower only when you reach a full ten-elixir bar and confirm the opponent cannot punish the opposite bridge.
- Deploy counter-push support: Trail Electro Giant with Bowler or Phoenix at the bridge to clear ground swarms and distract defenses.
- Keep spells ready: Hold Tornado or Lightning to respond immediately when the opponent deploys their primary counter.
- Sustain pressure in triple elixir: In triple elixir, cycle rapidly using Bomber and Barbarian Barrel. If the first push deals significant tower damage, immediately place a second Electro Giant in the same lane to overwhelm depleted defensive cycles before the match reaches tiebreaker overtime.

This helped me understand strategy much better.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
This saved me time in the early game.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Clash Royale articles next.
