To execute the Giant-Minion beatdown strategy in Clash Royale, deploy your Giant at the back of the arena to store elixir, then support it with Minions at the bridge once the Giant draws tower and defensive building fire.
This combination forces opponents to manage a high-health ground target and high-DPS air support simultaneously.
Executing the Core Offensive Push
The primary goal of this deck is using the Giant to absorb incoming damage while your air units clear defenses and attack the enemy tower.
- Place the Giant at the back of the map: Deploy the Giant behind your Crown Tower when you have full elixir or a clear lead. This gives you time to regenerate elixir while the Giant moves toward the river.
- Support at the bridge: As soon as the Giant crosses the bridge, deploy Minions behind it.
- Target defensive responses:
- If the opponent plays ground defenses (such as a Cannon), the Giant distracts the building while the Minions eliminate it from the air without taking damage.
- If the opponent targets your Giant with an Inferno Tower or defensive troops, your air support maintains DPS pressure while the tank draws fire.
Managing Defense and Counter-Pushes
Defending efficiently ensures you have the elixir required to build full pushes.
- Cycle efficiently: Use low-cost cards to defend incoming threats and cycle back to your Giant.
- Protect your Minions: Use Minions defensively to clear enemy ground tanks from safety. Keep them alive so they can transition into offense.
- Bridge counter-pushing: If your defensive support units survive an enemy push, drop a fresh Giant at the bridge in front of them immediately rather than starting from the back.
Countering Defensive Spells and Splash Units
The main weakness of a Giant-Minion push is vulnerability to area-of-effect damage and spell clears.
| Counter Type | Enemy Cards | Tactical Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| Direct Damage Spells | Fireball, Arrows | Space your units: Avoid dropping Minions directly on top of the Giant. Spacing prevents your opponent from hitting both units with a single spell. |
| Splash Troops | Wizard, Executioner | Bait or delay: Wait for the opponent to play their splash unit before committing Minions, or place the Giant to pull splash troops away from the center lane. |
| Defensive Buildings | Cannon, Inferno Tower | Spell chip: Use spells to damage defensive structures before your Giant reaches the bridge so it is not destroyed early. |
Card Upgrade Priorities
Prioritize leveling up your Giant and Minions before spending resources on secondary cycle cards. Interaction outcomes—such as how many hits Minions take to destroy defensive troops or how long the Giant survives under tower fire—depend directly on card level parity against your opponent's defenses.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Clash Royale articles next.
This saved me time in the early game.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
This guide answered the exact question I had.
