To clear Colony Flow! Level 220, route your shortest, most restricted central paths first to free up the middle of the board, then run your remaining color paths tightly along the outer perimeter walls.

Routing Order and Central Bottlenecks

Level 220 features tight grid constraints where paths easily intersect. To prevent grid locks and color cross-contamination, prioritize your pathing based on spatial flexibility:

  • Clear central bottlenecks first: Identify colors that occupy the cramped middle grid with short distance requirements. Connecting these restricted colors early clears the center before longer paths block access.
  • Hug the outer walls: Route longer paths along the outer edge of the board. Keep lines flat against the perimeter to preserve internal board space for turns.
  • Protect corner cells: Avoid turning inward into a corner cell too early. Occupying corner tiles prematurely cuts off turn space needed for secondary colors.

Preventing Dead Zones and Grid Locks

Because space is limited near the end of Level 220, minor placement errors can isolate empty cells or block final target nodes.

  1. Check for dead zones: Ensure your active paths do not completely encircle pockets of empty cells. Keep at least one open route toward the board center until your final connections are drawn.
  2. Minimize unnecessary turns: Select paths that require the fewest directional turns. Long, winding routes dramatically increase the chance of blocking remaining colors.
  3. Adjust single-tile shifts: If a final color is blocked near its endpoint, backtrack and shift an existing line by one tile to open the required corridor instead of resetting the level.
