To build an effective defense in Coop TD: Together, combine out-of-match percentage upgrades from the main menu with in-match Demon unit synergies while keeping at least two board slots open for unit synthesis. Permanent menu stats establish your baseline performance, while mid-match synthesis and Demon adjacency buffs allow your towers to scale against late-game bosses.
Main Menu Upgrade Priorities
Before starting a match, spend earned currency in the main menu Upgrade tab to grant persistent stat boosts across all rounds.
- Percentage-Based Multipliers: Prioritize percentage-based increases over flat stat boosts. Because in-match synthesis multiplies tower base power, percentage upgrades scale far better in later waves.
- Tech and Research Trees: Check the sub-menus for hidden damage multipliers before spending all currency on single-unit stat nodes.
Demon Synergies and Board Placement
Demon-type units provide passive stat buffs, such as increased attack speed and damage, to nearby towers within their active radius.
- Group Same-Type Demons: Place identical Demon units adjacent to one another to activate and stack their passive synergy bonuses.
- Synthesize to Clear Space: Merge lower-tier Demon units into higher-tier versions. Consolidating weak towers frees up board space to deploy additional Demon units and stack further buffs.
- Avoid Overcrowding: Filling the entire board with unsynthesized low-level units prevents you from deploying higher-tier units and leaves you underpowered against fast wave variants.
Board Synthesis and Economy Rules
Managing board capacity prevents low-level towers from clogging your strategy during key waves.
| Action | Condition | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Summon New Units | Board space is under 50% capacity | Establish lane coverage before spending gold on unit upgrades. |
| Upgrade Existing Towers | Frontline is stable and board is over 50% | Boost raw output without clogging open deployment slots. |
| Maintain Two-Tier Spread | Ongoing synthesis throughout match | Keep low-tier utility units for slowing while concentrating damage in high-tier units. |
| Reserve Open Slots | Always | Keep at least 2 open slots to accept new summons and react to bad shop rolls. |
Avoid repeatedly refreshing the shop without a specific tower goal. Shop reroll costs increase with each consecutive click, draining gold needed for unit summons.
Boss Wave Defense Strategy
Bosses require status effects alongside high damage output. Placing raw damage towers without support leads to early leaks.
- Front-Load Crowd Control: Position slowing or armor-shredding support towers near the start of the enemy lane to apply status effects immediately.
- Maximize Damage Uptime: Extending the time a boss spends in your path effectively doubles the damage output of your high-tier Demon towers. A single high-tier slowing unit provides more practical defense than multiple low-tier damage towers.

This saved me time in the early game.
This helped me understand base building much better.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
