To beat the clock on CubeAway Level 13, clear the unobstructed perimeter cubes immediately from your starting view before touching the camera controls. Level 13 packs a high density of cubes into a compact grid, but its straight-line alignment makes flight paths easy to read. Stripping the exterior edges first opens the flight paths for interior blocks, allowing you to dismantle the puzzle in rapid, controlled horizontal rotations without triggering rebound stalls.

Step 1: Strip the Starting Perimeter Without Rotating

Do not spin the puzzle at the start of the stage. Rotating before tapping visible, free blocks wastes crucial opening seconds. Because Level 13 aligns its cubes in uniform rows, several boundary pieces have completely clear escape paths off-screen right away.

Tap your initial targets in this order:

  1. Top-edge upward arrows: Clear every cube along the top row that points directly upward into open space.
  2. Outer flank arrows: Tap the left- and right-column blocks whose arrows face outward away from the center.
  3. Exposed bottom corners: Tap any corner blocks directing downward or outward that have no neighboring obstruction.

Removing this outer layer instantly creates gaps along the boundary and reveals which direction the second layer faces.

Step 2: Rotate in Fixed 90-Degree Increments

Erratic or multi-axis camera dragging causes spatial disorientation and forces you to re-examine faces you already cleared. Use clean, single-axis 90-degree horizontal swipes to systematically work around the cube.

Rotation PhaseTarget Arrow TypesSpeedrun Objective
Initial View (0°)Outward perimeter edges (Up, Left, Right)Strips outer shell instantly without moving the camera
First Turn (90°)Newly exposed outer flanks pointing awayClears secondary boundary blocks using the same cadence
Second Turn (180°)Back-face perimeter and high-density edgesEliminates blind spots hiding unobstructed exits
Core View (Top/Bottom)Remaining vertical core pillarsRemoves central blocks once horizontal exits are open

Restricting your movement to 90-degree increments keeps the grid flat to the screen, preventing angled perspective distortion that can cause mis-taps on dense clusters.

Step 3: Chain-Tap the Unlocked Core

Once the exterior shell is gone, interior cubes can escape into the empty slots left by the perimeter blocks. Clear the core by chaining taps in immediate succession:

  • Follow the flight path: When an exterior block flies off the screen, immediately tap the interior block positioned directly behind its tail if that inner block points into the newly vacated space.
  • Maintain rhythm: Do not wait for the first block's exit animation to finish completely. If the space in front of an arrow is clear, tap the cube to keep your speedrun pace.
  • Chain groups: Look for lines of two to four blocks pointing in the same direction, tapping them sequentially from outermost to innermost.

How to Prevent Rebound Delays

Tapping an arrow that points directly into an adjacent block triggers a rebound animation: the block shakes and snaps back into place. While this does not fail the level outright, the animation pause breaks your tapping rhythm and costs fractions of a second.

  • Check arrow points: Never tap a block whose arrow points into the side or rear face of another cube.
  • Lead block priority: If two adjacent cubes face the same direction, always tap the forward block first to clear the lane.
  • Turn instead of hesitating: If an interior block's path appears congested or ambiguous, swipe 90 degrees horizontally to check the alternate face rather than pausing to inspect it.
