To maximize combat power in Dark War:Survival, upgrade your frontline infantry's defensive armor pieces before investing materials in backline damage dealers. Distributing crafting resources evenly across all unit types dilutes your march strength, leaving frontlines vulnerable to fast collapses against concentrated enemy fire.

How Unit Armor Operates

Unit armor modifies the base combat attributes of entire troop types rather than single commanders. While hero equipment boosts the specific stats and skill scaling of individual leading officers, unit armor applies blanket stat buffs to every soldier of that matching unit class in your formation.

Because these bonuses attach directly to troop classes (Infantry, Cavalry/Vehicles, and Ranged), the stat modifications remain active regardless of which heroes lead your march into battle.

Armor Slots and Stat Distribution

Each unit class equips dedicated gear pieces covering three core combat metrics: Troop Health (HP), Defense, and Lethality (Attack). Defensive slots mitigate damage before troop losses are calculated, while offensive attachments increase penetration and raw damage output.

Armor ComponentPrimary AttributeTarget Unit ClassCombat Function

Chest Armor / VestTroop Defense / Damage ReductionFrontline Infantry & CavalryReduces attrition during extended trades and skirmishes
Tactical FootwearMobility / EvasionCavalry & Flank UnitsAids positioning and engagement survival
Weapon AttachmentLethality / Armor PenetrationRanged & Primary DPSIncreases damage against armored targets

Follow a sequential upgrade order to keep your frontline alive long enough for your damage dealers to eliminate opposing units:

  1. Frontline Defensive Slots: Upgrade the chest armor and helmet slots for your primary frontline class (typically Infantry). Raising their Defense and HP thresholds protects your formation against early tactical burst damage.
  2. Backline Offensive Slots: Once your frontline meets a reliable survival baseline, allocate remaining materials into the weapon attachment slots of your main damage dealer (typically Ranged). Boosting Lethality speeds up enemy elimination.
  3. Flanking and Utility Slots: Finish by upgrading footwear and auxiliary gear on secondary units or Cavalry. These pieces provide marginal survivability and movement benefits without draining materials needed for core survivability.

Material Management and Resource Allocation

Enhancement materials accumulate at a limited pace through base development, events, and daily military tasks. Spreading these materials across all three unit types at once stalls your progression.

  • Focus on your primary march pairing: If your main army uses an infantry shield backed by ranged attackers, dedicate all crafting and upgrade materials exclusively to those two roles.
  • Pause Cavalry upgrades: Avoid leveling vehicle or cavalry armor until your primary march reaches an upgrade plateau.
  • Conserve surplus materials: Save spare resources for your main formation's breakthrough milestones rather than using them on bench units.

In garrison defense and rally battles, unit armor establishes a baseline durability floor for your troops. Concentrating your investments into frontline defense ensures your squads absorb multiple waves of attacks and trade efficiently against higher-spending opponents.
