To maximize Freddy (Fenrir) in Dislyte, you must keep him at low health while protecting him with Standoff, build him for high Critical Damage and Attack, and support him with shields instead of direct heals. Freddy is an Inferno-element single-target fighter whose damage scales upward as his remaining HP drops. Proper turn-order tuning and Standoff timing let him survive lethal attacks and unleash maximum single-target burst in Ritual Miracle and Point War.
How Freddy's Low-HP Damage Mechanics Work
Freddy trades defensive security for scaling offensive power. Unlike standard damage dealers who benefit from full health, Freddy deals mediocre damage when topped off and reaches peak efficiency only at critical health thresholds.
Because his scaling relies on missing health, pairing Freddy with automatic healers actively lowers his burst damage. His mechanics require taking calculated incoming damage to enter his highest damage bracket safely, relying on his self-buffed Standoff to survive at the brink of defeat.
Ability Rotation and Standoff Timing
Freddy's kit consists of two damage abilities and a self-preservation buff:
- Claw Strike (Basic Attack): Strikes a single target with scaling that increases when Freddy's health is low.
- Hunter's Instinct (Support Skill): Grants Freddy Attack Up and Standoff. Standoff prevents his health from dropping below one point while active.
- Thrill of the Hunt (Ultimate): Hits a single enemy with a flurry of strikes. Damage increases heavily based on Freddy's percentage of missing health, dealing peak damage near 1% HP.
To execute his rotation:
- Cast Hunter's Instinct before taking heavy enemy hits to secure Attack Up and Standoff.
- Allow incoming damage to drop Freddy to his 1-HP Standoff threshold.
- Immediately cast Thrill of the Hunt on a priority target, such as an enemy controller or primary damage dealer, to trigger maximum missing-health scaling.
| Health Range | Damage Output | Main Hazard | Tactical Response |
|---|---|---|---|
| High HP (>70%) | Baseline / Low | Low immediate risk | Let enemy attacks lower HP safely |
| Mid HP (40%–60%) | Moderate | Sudden fatal burst | Cast Hunter's Instinct for Standoff |
| Critical HP (<20%) | Maximum burst ceiling | Turn-start damage (Bleed/Poison) or Dispel | Fire Thrill of the Hunt immediately |
Overcoming Standoff Failure Points
While Standoff prevents direct fatal damage, Freddy remains vulnerable to two specific threats while at 1 HP:
- Continuous Damage Debuffs: Standoff does not prevent debuffs such as Poison or Bleed. If a damage-over-time effect ticks at the start of Freddy's turn after Standoff expires, he will fall immediately before taking an action. Bring cleansers or Immunity supports when facing debuff-heavy teams.
- Buff Strippers: Enemy dispels will remove Standoff. At critical health, any follow-up attack will eliminate Freddy once Standoff is stripped. Either eliminate enemy dispellers first or tune Freddy's Speed so he acts immediately after enemy burst attacks.
Relic Sets and Stat Priorities
Freddy requires heavy investment in offensive stats while avoiding high defensive pools that slow down his low-HP activation.
Relic Sets
- Four-Piece Set: Run War Machine to elevate his base Attack value, which multiplies heavily during low-health strikes. Alternatively, run Thunder to boost Critical Damage if your substats already provide sufficient Critical Rate.
- Two-Piece Set: Equip Fiery Incandescence to secure reliable Critical Rate. In manual boss fights where counterattacks are valuable, Avatara provides chances to strike back at 1 HP with enhanced basic attacks.
Main and Substat Targets
- Mui II (Ring): Critical Damage
- Una IV (Headphones): Attack Percentage
- Mui (Footwear): Speed
Prioritize substats in this order:
- Critical Rate (target 70% to 80% minimum)
- Critical Damage
- Attack Percentage
- Speed
Avoid flat HP and HP Percentage substats. A larger maximum health pool makes it harder for incoming damage to drop Freddy into his highest burst thresholds quickly.
Team Composition and Synergies
Build around Freddy with supports that protect his life without restoring his hit points:
- Shield Providers: Shields provide temporary health pools without restoring actual HP. Freddy remains at 1 HP under the shield, preserving his maximum damage multipliers while absorbing stray damage.
- AP Pushers: Supports like Dhalia or Unas advance Freddy's Action Point gauge, allowing him to take his turn immediately after dropping to 1 HP. Dhalia also provides Attack Up and Critical Rate Up, reducing his gear stat requirements.
- Defense Breakers: Single-target Defense Down debuffs applied ahead of Freddy's turn allow Thrill of the Hunt to eliminate tanky bosses and high-defense targets in one hit.
