To maximize Ophelia’s single-target burst in Dislyte, you must stack offensive buffs on her and apply multiple debuffs to your target before casting her third ability, Butterfly’s Dream. This setup scales her sequence into a multi-hit chain that eliminates priority threats and routes remaining hits to surviving enemies.

How Butterfly’s Dream Pursuit Scaling Works

Ophelia’s primary burst mechanic delivers an initial strike followed by bonus pursuit hits. The total number of pursuit attacks is determined by adding two values:

  1. The number of active buffs currently on Ophelia.
  2. The number of active debuffs on her target.

Each active status effect adds an additional strike to the attack chain. When Ophelia holds buffs such as ATK Up and C. RATE Up while attacking an enemy afflicted with multiple status ailments—such as DEF Down, Bleed, Sear, or Stun—Butterfly’s Dream expands into a five-to-six-hit execution string.

If the primary target dies before all calculated pursuit hits are completed, the remaining strikes automatically retarget random surviving enemies. This retargeting allows Ophelia to eliminate a fragile enemy and damage or finish off secondary targets in the same turn.

Turn Order and Rotation Setup

To avoid wasting pursuit scaling on an unprimed enemy, tune your team's Speed so Ophelia acts immediately after your buffers and debuffers.

  1. Apply Turn-Meter and Attack Buffs: Open with an AP pusher such as Dhalia or Unas to advance team action gauges and grant ATK Up and C. RATE Up.
  2. Inflict DEF Down: Use a defense breaker like Gabrielle, Lin Xiao, or Tiye. DEF Down provides the largest single damage increase for physical multi-hit attacks.
  3. Layer Secondary Debuffs: Apply auxiliary status effects, such as Bleed, Sear, AP Down, or Stun, using controllers or secondary damage dealers to increase the pursuit hit count.
  4. Cast Butterfly’s Dream: Target the primary enemy to trigger the multi-hit chain. Preserve her second ability, Heartless Verdict, for cleaning up surviving enemies or buffing herself when her third ability is on cooldown.

Gear Sets and Stat Priorities

Equip Ophelia with percentage-based offensive gear so each individual pursuit strike deals sufficient damage to bypass high enemy defense pools.

Equipment Slot / SetPrimary StatDesired Substats
Set 1 (4-Piece): Hammer of Thor or WarC. DMG +40% or ATK +30%C. DMG, C. RATE, ATK%, SPD
Set 2 (2-Piece): Fiery / IncandescenceC. RATE +20%C. RATE, C. DMG, ATK%, ACC
Mui IIC. DMG%C. RATE, ATK%, SPD
Mui IATK%C. DMG, C. RATE, SPD
Una IISPD or ATK%C. DMG, ATK%, C. RATE

Aim for at least 70% unbuffed Critical Rate. When combined with team-wide Critical Rate buffs, this ensures all pursuit hits land critical strikes. Use Hammer of Thor for the highest damage ceiling, or swap to War if your equipment lacks sufficient base Attack rolls.

Wave Strategy in Temporal Tower

High-level PvE encounters, such as Temporal Tower floor 24, feature durable enemies supported by heavy control or healing mechanics. Ophelia handles these encounters best when you manage target priority and cooldown timing:

  • Target Fragile Enablers First: When facing a wave with a high-health tank and a fragile support unit, target the support with Butterfly’s Dream. The support will typically die within the first two strikes, allowing the remaining high-damage pursuit hits to redirect into the tank.
  • Hold Cooldowns Between Waves: When only one weakened enemy remains in a wave, finish it using basic attacks or support abilities rather than Butterfly’s Dream. Entering the next wave with Ophelia's third ability ready allows you to execute priority targets before they act.

Synergistic Support Roles

Ophelia relies on specific team roles to enable her burst sequences:

  • AP Push and Buffers (Dhalia, Clara): Dhalia provides both ATK Up and C. RATE Up while lowering gearing requirements and contributing freeze control.
  • Buff Strippers and Controllers (Lucas, Long Mian, Tiye): These Espers remove enemy immunity buffs and apply control effects, ensuring incoming DEF Down debuffs land reliably.
  • Multi-Debuffers (Gabrielle, Lin Xiao): Gabrielle supplies team immunity alongside multi-target DEF Down. Lin Xiao applies DEF Down, Bleed, and SPD Down in a single turn, providing three pursuit counters for Ophelia on a single target.
