To survive difficult encounters in Dragonstride: Legacy Reborn, place high-defense tanks in outer frontline grid slots, leave at least one empty tile between tanks and squishy units, and offset your damage dealers so line attacks do not hit multiple heroes at once.

Frontline Tank Placement

Enemies target the closest available unit when combat starts. Staggering your high-durability heroes across outer grid positions forces enemy targets to path inefficiently, drawing aggro away from your core damage dealers and buying time to cast ultimate abilities.

• Outer Grid Positioning: Place heroes with the highest physical and magical defense in extreme outer slots to act as primary targets.
• Buffer Space: Keep at least one empty tile between frontline tanks and midline support units to block splash damage.

Countering Area of Effect Attacks

Clustering heroes in straight vertical or horizontal lines makes your squad vulnerable to wide-reaching attacks. Spreading units into a staggered formation prevents a single blast from downing multiple team members.

• Diamond and Split-Corner Layouts: Arrange heroes diagonally across the grid to ensure AoE abilities only strike one unit at a time.

Protecting Backline Damage Dealers and Supports

Squishy heroes require active protection against frontal cleaves and rear flankers. Position your backline to minimize direct threats and prevent unexpected wipes.
