To beat Level 5 in Gardenscapes, you must drop two lemonade glasses from the top of the board to the collection arrows along the bottom edge before you run out of moves. Lemonade glasses cannot be swapped or matched with regular garden items. They only advance downward when you clear the supporting tiles directly beneath them or blast them open with explosives.

How the Lemonade Drop Mechanic Works

Level 5 introduces lemonade glasses as objective items. Regular pieces such as apples, leaves, water droplets, and plums clear when arranged in lines of three or more, but lemonade glasses are immovable obstacles that obey gravity.

The board features an open layout without obstacles like wooden crates or locked chains. Both glasses start in the upper columns. For each glass to exit the board, every tile directly between its starting point and the bottom arrow must be removed. Matching tiles in columns that do not hold a lemonade glass will consume turns without moving the stage objectives closer to the exit.

Column Matching Priorities

Direct column clearing is the primary method for moving lemonade downward within the move budget.

Match TypeBoard EffectPriority
Vertical 3-in-a-RowClears three tiles along the active column, dropping the glass three spaces.Highest
Direct Horizontal 3-in-a-RowRemoves the single supporting piece directly below the lemonade glass.High
Bottom-Row MatchTriggers gravity cascades that can automatically clear pieces above.Medium
Off-Target Column MatchRemoves pieces in unaffected columns without advancing the glasses.Avoid

Vertical three-in-a-row matches in the glass's column provide the fastest single-turn progress. If vertical matches are unavailable, look for horizontal matches where at least one cleared item sits directly under the glass. Making matches near the bottom row of the active columns also helps, as the resulting drop frequently triggers automatic cascades that clear blocking pieces for free.

Creating and Using Explosives

When standard matches cannot clear the lane beneath a lemonade glass, create explosives to remove blocked tiles quickly:

  • Firecracker: Match four pieces of the same color in a straight line. Detonating a Firecracker clears a cross-shaped pattern one tile in each orthogonal direction.
  • Bomb: Match five pieces in an L-shape or T-shape. A Bomb clears a larger blast radius, removing multiple rows and columns around it.

Always detonate explosives from beneath or beside the lemonade glasses. Triggering an explosive above a glass clears tiles that have already passed, leaving the blocking obstacles below completely intact.

Turn-by-Turn Decision Order

Evaluate the puzzle board in this sequence on every move:

  1. Check for direct matches: Clear the tile immediately beneath either lemonade glass using a vertical or horizontal match.
  2. Form explosives: Look for four-piece lines or five-piece combinations near or under the active columns to produce Firecrackers or Bombs.
  3. Trigger bottom cascades: If no direct clears or power-ups exist, match pieces at the bottom of the board under the active lanes to force cascading drops.
  4. Skip unrelated matches: Avoid standard matches in outer columns unless they actively shift pieces into the lemonade lanes.

Move Conservation and Rewards

The level ends as soon as the second lemonade glass reaches the collection arrow. Any moves remaining on your counter automatically convert into Firecrackers and Bombs that detonate across the board, generating bonus coins. Finishing the level also awards a star, which is required to complete early landscaping tasks and advance Austin's garden restoration storyline.
