Do not wish on the Genshin Impact Chronicled Wish banner unless you have a reserve of at least 160 Intertwined Fates (25,600 Primogems) ready to spend. While accumulated pull counts toward five-star pity transfer to future Chronicled Wish cycles, Fate Points do not carry over. If you fail to secure your designated target before the banner cycle ends, your Fate Point resets to zero, forfeiting the guarantee you spent wishes to unlock.

How Fate Points and Pity Rollover Work

The Chronicled Wish banner requires you to select an Epitomized Path toward a specific five-star character or weapon before pulling. Its guarantee system differs significantly from standard limited event banners:

  • Epitomized Path: If your first five-star pull is not your charted target, you receive one Fate Point.
  • The Guarantee: Once you hold one Fate Point, your next five-star pull is guaranteed to be your charted target. Obtaining the target consumes the Fate Point.
  • Pity Persistence: The raw pull count accumulated toward a five-star drop rolls over into the next Chronicled Wish banner cycle.
  • Fate Point Expiration: Any active Fate Point resets to zero as soon as the banner cycle concludes. An unused guarantee does not transfer to the next cycle.
  • Pool Segregation: Charting a path toward a character restricts all five-star pulls to the banner's character pool. Charting a weapon restricts all five-star drops strictly to weapons.

On a standard limited character banner, losing a 50/50 roll preserves your guarantee indefinitely until your next promotional five-star pull. On Chronicled Wish, stopping midway through a cycle after losing a 50/50 returns your account to an unassisted 50/50 state on the subsequent cycle.

Pull Ceilings and Expected Costs

Planning an Epitomized Path requires budgeting for a lost 50/50 check under the respective pity brackets for characters and weapons.

Character Course Costs

  • Soft Pity: Starts around pull 73.
  • Hard Pity: Caps at pull 90.
  • Winning the 50/50: Secures the character within an average of 76 to 80 pulls (roughly 12,480 Primogems).
  • Losing the 50/50: Requires triggering pity twice, demanding an average of 150 to 160 pulls (24,000 to 25,600 Primogems) to utilize the Fate Point guarantee.

Weapon Course Costs

  • Soft Pity: Starts around pull 63 to 65.
  • Hard Pity: Caps at pull 80.
  • Winning the 50/50: Secures the weapon within an average of 65 pulls (10,400 Primogems).
  • Losing the 50/50: Reaching the guaranteed second five-star takes an average of 130 to 135 pulls (roughly 21,600 Primogems), with an absolute ceiling of 160 pulls.

Because five-star weapons cap at 80 pity rather than 90, weapons carry a lower overall pull ceiling. Additionally, pool segregation guarantees that losing the 50/50 on a weapon course awards an alternate five-star weapon rather than an off-target character.

Rules Before Wishing on Chronicled Wish

To protect your Primogem balance, follow these operational rules:

  1. Commit only with full reserves: Never start pulling on a Chronicled Wish banner without at least 160 Intertwined Fates or 25,600 Primogems ready to spend before the timer expires.
  2. Never attempt to "build pity": Pulling casually without the intent to reach a guarantee risks triggering an early off-target five-star. The resulting Fate Point will be lost when the banner ends.
  3. Weigh character value against standard banners: Charting a legacy five-star character costs the same pull investment as securing a modern promotional unit, but without permanent guarantee safety. Save character wishes for standard limited banners unless acquiring a specific older unit is an absolute priority.
