Genshin Impact Version 7.4: How to Plan for Hyperborea and New Banners

To prepare for the reported Genshin Impact Version 7.4 update, begin stockpiling Primogems toward the 180-wish guarantee and accumulate universal materials rather than pre-farming specific talent domains. Early reports suggest that Version 7.4 accelerates the release of the northern Hyperborea expansion alongside a new 5-star Pyro Bow user and a 4-star Dendro character. Because roadmap leaks remain subject to developer changes, your safest path is preparing flexible account assets while avoiding irreversible Resin spending.

Reported Version 7.4 Content: Hyperborea and Character Roles

Early information indicates that the northern area of Hyperborea has been shifted forward into Version 7.4. Standalone map expansions typically introduce new Teleport Waypoints, regional offering systems, and puzzle chests that temporarily increase patch freemium income.

Alongside the regional expansion, reports outline two additions to the playable roster:

A 5-star Pyro Bow user follows the weapon and element archetype previously seen on characters like Yoimiya and Lyney, which generally favors single-target damage profiles. The accompanying 4-star Dendro unit provides an accessible elemental enabler for accounts lacking limited 5-star Dendro anchors such as Nahida or Baizhu. Pairing Pyro and Dendro within the same update implies a focus on reaction archetypes like Burning and Burgeon, particularly when paired with an off-field Hydro enabler.

Primogem Budgeting and Banner Pulling Rules

While the arrival of Hyperborea will inject fresh resources into Version 7.4, exploration alone cannot fund a guaranteed promotional 5-star character.

Follow these budgeting constraints when planning your pulls:

1. Plan for the full pity ceiling: Securing a featured 5-star unit from zero pity requires up to 180 wishes (28,800 Primogems) in the event you lose the 50/50 pity check. Treat any lower pull count as a bonus rather than an expectation.
2. Discount map rewards from your guarantee: Completing a new regional zone typically yields 1,500 to 3,000 Primogems across one-time chest claims, waypoints, and quests. This income offsets part of the wish cost but does not replace disciplined patch-over-patch saving.
3. Never pull exclusively for the 4-star character: Genshin Impact does not feature a targeted pity system for specific 4-star rate-up units. Spending wishes solely to chase the new Dendro 4-star risks consuming your guaranteed 5-star pity counter on an unwanted banner.

Safe Account Preparation Steps

Because specific talent books, boss drops, and local specialties cannot be verified ahead of official developer livestreams, do not spend fragile Resin farming specialized ascension materials. Instead, focus your preparation on flexible assets that benefit any roster addition:

• Hoard neutral progression currencies: Stockpile Mora, Hero's Wit, and Mystic Enhancement Ore. These resources never lose value regardless of which character you ultimately build.
• Keep versatile utility bows on hand: Retain generalist weapons such as The Stringless for reaction-oriented damage, Favonius Warbow for Energy Recharge management, or accessible craftable options like Song of Stillness.
• Hold unrolled baseline artifacts: Preserve promising pieces from sets like Deepwood Memories (for Dendro resistance reduction) or Gilded Dreams and Flower of Paradise Lost (for Elemental Mastery scaling) without committing resources until official kit scalings are confirmed.
