Spend Crowns of Insight only on abilities that anchor your entire team's damage or field uptime: universal team-wide buffs, persistent off-field sub-DPS skills, and primary normal attacks for hypercarries. For almost every other talent in Genshin Impact, stop at Level 9 to conserve scarce resources.

The Resource Cost of Level 10 Talents

Taking a single talent from Level 9 to Level 10 requires the following materials:

  • 1 Crown of Insight
  • 16 Philosophies talent books
  • 2 weekly boss materials
  • 700,000 Mora

Triple-crowning all three abilities on a single character triples that burden to 3 Crowns of Insight, 48 Philosophies books, 6 weekly boss drops, and 2.1 million Mora, excluding the Resin required to farm domains.

Unlike Mora or domain books, Crowns of Insight cannot be replenished through Resin domains or Ley Line Outcrops. Your total supply is strictly limited to major time-limited flagship events and one-time regional offering systems, such as the Frostbearing Tree, the Sacred Sakura, and the Amrita Pool.

Why Level 9 Is the Practical Stopping Point

Advancing a talent from Level 9 to Level 10 generally provides an incremental scaling increase of roughly 5% to 7%. While that bump helps competitive speedrunners shave seconds off Spiral Abyss floor times, it rarely changes the total rotation count needed for standard endgame clears.

The 700,000 Mora and 16 gold talent books spent on a single Level 10 talent can instead take two separate support abilities from Level 6 to Level 8. Unless an ability crosses a functional mechanical threshold at Level 10—such as altering duration or hit properties—leaving high-usage talents at Level 9 delivers far better account efficiency across your broader roster.

Talent Priority for Crowning

When you choose to spend a Crown of Insight, evaluate talents based on how broadly their output affects your combat rotation.

Managing Excess Crowns

Once your primary Spiral Abyss teams reliably clear endgame content, sitting on dozens of unused crowns provides no combat value. At that stage, you can spend beyond strict efficiency:

  • Dedicated Favorites: Crowning all three talents on a favorite character is an acceptable milestone once your core teams function independently.
  • Universal Enablers: Upgrading versatile Hydro, Anemo, or Pyro sub-DPS units that slot into multiple team archetypes maximizes the practical return of each crown.
  • Safety Reserve: Always keep a reserve of three to four Crowns of Insight in your inventory so you can immediately max out key abilities when pulling a new character.
