Unopened card packs in Gossip Harbor®: Merge & Story do not carry over to future card album seasons. Packs obtained during an active season are tied strictly to that specific album's card pool. Once the album countdown expires, any remaining sealed packs resolve only against the ending collection rather than transferring into the new season.
To avoid losing progress or rewards, open every card pack and redeem your duplicate stars before the seasonal album timer hits zero.
How End-of-Season Pack Settlement Works
Saving card packs across seasonal transitions does not grant a head start when a new album launches. When an album season concludes, the system finalizes all pending assets automatically:
| Resolution Stage | System Action | Account Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Timer Expiration | Forces open any unopened card packs in your queue | Cards apply only to the expiring album collection |
| Album Evaluation | Checks for newly completed card sets | Grants final coin, energy, and gem payouts |
| Duplicate Settlement | Tallys remaining duplicate cards into stars | Converts leftover stars into final reward chests |
| New Season Launch | Introduces a fresh card album | All players begin at zero cards with no preserved packs |
Relying on the automated settlement carries risks. If your connection drops or the game enters maintenance during the reset cutoff, you risk missing the opportunity to claim milestone chests or select your preferred duplicate trade tiers before the interface changes.
When to Hold Packs During an Active Season
While packs cannot transfer across seasons, holding them temporarily during an active album can provide specific gameplay advantages:
- Card-Opening Mini-Events: When a concurrent challenge awards points or milestone rewards for opening card packs, saving packs for that short event window maximizes reward value.
- Reaching Duplicate Star Thresholds: If you are close to unlocking a high-tier duplicate exchange chest, saving packs until you can open enough to hit the required star count keeps your inventory organized.
- Early-Season Progression: Early in an album cycle, opening packs immediately is generally best because completed low-rarity sets yield quick injections of energy and gems to push main board orders.
Holding packs for a day or two to line up with a points event is safe only when the seasonal album timer still has plenty of time remaining.
Actions to Take Before the Album Ends
To prevent wasted resources, complete the following steps during the final hours of an album:
- Open All Sealed Packs: Manually open every card pack in your reward tabs, inbox, and board queues. Completing a final set before the deadline grants immediate energy to use on your merge board.
- Spend Duplicate Stars: Navigate to the duplicate card trade screen and exchange all available stars for the highest reward chest you can afford. Duplicate stars reset between seasons, but the gems, energy, and booster items obtained from trade chests persist permanently.
- Claim Pending Milestone Chests: Open the card album menu and tap every unlocked milestone chest. Reward banners can disappear once the event interface updates to the new season.
