To pilot Aggro C'Thun Priest in Hearthstone, treat the list as an aggressive tempo deck rather than a slow combo engine. The build pairs the opening hero power upgrade from Darkbishop Benedictus with the mid-game utility of C'Thun, the Shattered. Your primary plan is to secure the board on turns 1 through 3, use your Mind Spike hero power for direct damage, and cast individual C'Thun pieces as removal or burst rather than waiting to assemble the 10-mana finisher.

How the Benedictus and C'Thun Synergy Works

Darkbishop Benedictus requires all spells in your starting deck to belong to the Shadow spell school. At the start of the game, Benedictus transforms your base Lesser Heal hero power into Mind Spike, which deals two direct damage.

C'Thun, the Shattered splits into four separate five-mana spells at the start of the match:

  • Eye of C'Thun
  • Maw of C'Thun
  • Body of C'Thun
  • Heart of C'Thun

Because all four generated C'Thun components are classified as Shadow spells, adding C'Thun to your deck does not disable Benedictus. While C'Thun expands your deck to 34 cards, the raw value of the four spells gives an otherwise fragile aggressive archetype mid-game reach and hard removal.

Early-Game Mulligan and Turn Sequences

Aggressively mulligan for one-mana minions to establish initiative before your opponent can develop defensive tools.

  • Priority Openers: Keep Voidtouched Attendant, Peasant, and Tour Guide.
  • Turn 1: Deploy a one-drop immediately. Voidtouched Attendant is the best turn-one play because it increases all damage dealt by both your minions and hero power by one point. With Attendant active, Mind Spike deals three damage, and your small minions trade up or push accelerated face damage.
  • Turn 2: If you have board control, direct Mind Spike at the enemy hero or eliminate an opposing one-drop. If contesting an aggressive board, deploy a second minion to widen your board state.
  • Turn 3: Combine a cheap minion with a Mind Spike activation. If your opening minions have traded off, cast Raise Dead for zero mana to refill your hand with low-cost threats.

Using the Four C'Thun Pieces as Standalone Tempo

Do not save the four C'Thun spells in an attempt to trigger the full 10-mana battlecry. Cast each piece as soon as the board state warrants its effect:

Eye of C'Thun5 ManaDeal 7 damage randomly split among all enemiesActs as direct burn against an empty or light enemy board to close out games.

Body of C'Thun5 ManaSummon a 6/6 minion with TauntPuts a large threat on the board while protecting smaller, low-health minions.
Heart of C'Thun5 ManaDeal 3 damage to all minionsResets the board when you lose minion initiative against wide aggressive boards.

Maintaining Draw and Spell Selection

Because C'Thun dilutes your deck, targeted tutor effects ensure you draw the cards you need:

  • Thrive in the Shadows: Discovers a spell from your deck. Because your spell pool consists only of Shadow spells—such as Raise Dead, Thrive in the Shadows, and the four C'Thun spells—the Discover pool is small and consistent. Use it to find Maw of C'Thun when facing an enemy Taunt or Raise Dead when your hand runs low on minions.
  • Twilight Deceptor: Draws a Shadow spell from your deck whenever your hero takes damage on your turn. Trigger this effect proactively by taking damage from Raise Dead or trading into minions.

Matchup Approaches

Your pacing shifts depending on the opponent's speed and defensive options:

  • Against Aggro and Token Decks: Fight for minion control during the opening two turns. Use Mind Spike to remove early enemy threats without sacrificing your own minions. Deploy Body of C'Thun on turn 5 to shut down opposing weapon attacks and small attackers.
  • Against Control Decks: Maximize face damage immediately. Play your minions aggressively to force the opponent to react every turn. Once the opponent deploys large Taunt minions, bypass them using Maw of C'Thun, and finish their remaining life total using Mind Spike and Eye of C'Thun. If a control opponent stalls the game past turn 10 and exhausts their defensive clears, assembling the complete 30-damage C'Thun becomes an available backup win condition.
