To run the Undead Fish of N'Zoth build in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, secure the Fish of N'Zoth through Trinket selection or hero mechanics, scale your global Undead attack values in the mid game, and protect both the Fish and Titus Rivendare in the back of your board.

The Fish of N'Zoth inherits every friendly Deathrattle triggered during combat. When paired with high-attack Undead tokens and death-triggered stat buffs, the Fish repopulates your board with lethal threats once your frontline falls.

Core Minion Lineup and Tavern Tiers

Stabilize your board during Tavern Tiers 3 and 4 to establish base attack scaling before leveling to Tier 5 to secure Deathrattle multipliers.

MinionTavern TierStrategic Role
Nerubian DeathswarmerTier 3Grants permanent lobby-wide attack scaling to all future Undead summons.
Anub'arak, Nerubian KingTier 4Permanently increases Undead attack whenever a friendly Undead dies in combat.
SoulsplitterTier 4Gives Reborn to an Undead minion, doubling its death triggers for the Fish.
Titus RivendareTier 5Multiplies all combat Deathrattles, including the loaded Fish of N'Zoth.
Champion of the PrimusTier 5Translates frequent combat deaths into permanent board-wide stat gains.
Sister DeathwhisperTier 6Buffs your entire warband with permanent stats whenever a Reborn minion triggers.

Buy Nerubian Deathswarmer and Anub'arak early to ensure that low-tier tokens summoned by the Fish spawn with high attack values. Once your baseline attack reaches double digits, push to Tier 5 to find Titus Rivendare.

Trinket Priorities

When entering Trinket selection phases, commit to options that directly supply the Fish engine or enhance combat death counts:

  • Fish Sticker and N'Zoth Synergies: Essential picks that grant or duplicate the Fish of N'Zoth.
  • Undead Production Trinkets: Trinkets that summon extra Undead or add combat triggers increase the total Deathrattle pool stored by the Fish.
  • Backline Protection Trinkets: Trinkets that increase baseline health help keep your low-stat utility units alive against random enemy attacks.

If Undead is banned or your shop options fail to offer Deathrattle multipliers, avoid forcing this setup, as the Fish relies on stacked Deathrattles to gain combat tempo.

Combat Positioning Order

The Fish of N'Zoth must survive until your primary Deathrattle minions have died and transferred their effects. Position your warband from left to right:

  1. Taunted Reborn Frontline: Place Anub'arak or disposable Reborn Deathrattles on the far left so they attack and die first.
  2. Secondary Deathrattles: Place token summoners and secondary Deathrattles in the second and third positions to feed additional triggers into the Fish.
  3. Buffer Unit: Use a non-Taunted utility or stat minion in slot four to take hits safely without exposing your backline.
  4. Titus Rivendare: Place Titus in slot five or six to keep him out of cleave range while his passive multiplier remains active.
  5. Fish of N'Zoth: Keep the Fish in the final slot. It should only attack after your entire frontline has died and loaded it with Deathrattles.

Countering Build Weaknesses

  • Cleave Attacks: Cleave minions can bypass your frontline if Taunt positioning is incorrect. Always place your Taunted minions on the far left edge, separated from Titus Rivendare and the Fish of N'Zoth by at least two non-Taunted minions.
  • Targeted Snipes: Zapp Slywick and Whitemane target low-stat or specific utility units. Buff Titus Rivendare's attack using Tavern Spells or targeted buffs so he does not have the lowest attack on your board.
  • Board Space Locking: If the Fish inherits too many token-generating Deathrattles, it cannot summon every minion if board slots remain filled. Prioritize quality Deathrattles that grant stats or multi-tier Reborn effects over minions that only summon multiple low-impact tokens.
