To win with C’Thun Ramp Druid in Hearthstone, accelerate your mana in the first three turns, resolve all four 5-cost C’Thun fragments to shuffle the complete Old God into your deck, and draw into the reassembled 10-mana card to deal 30 split damage. Ramping lets Druid bypass the heavy tempo loss of casting multiple 5-mana spells on normal curve, allowing you to assemble your win condition several turns faster than other classes.

Mulligan and Mana Acceleration

At the start of the game, C’Thun, the Shattered splits into four distinct 5-cost spells. Attempting to cast them without mana acceleration leaves you unable to react to opponent developments. Gaining extra mana crystals shifts these expensive spells into your mid-game turns while leaving extra mana open for defense.

  • Primary keeps: Prioritize dedicated acceleration spells such as Wild Growth, Overgrowth, and Lightning Bloom.
  • Secondary keeps: Hold cheap card draw like Guess the Weight if you already have an early ramp piece in hand.
  • Early curve goal: Hit 5 to 7 mana by turns 3 or 4 so you can cast your first fragment alongside armor gain or removal.

Casting the Four C'Thun Fragments

Each fragment provides a standalone effect that must be matched to the board state. Because every single piece is required to assemble C'Thun, each must be cast successfully.

Fragment SpellCostPrimary Board EffectOptimal Usage
Heart of C'Thun5 ManaDeals 3 damage to all minionsClear wide token boards before developing your own minions.
Eye of C'Thun5 ManaDeals 7 damage split among all enemiesEliminate solitary midrange minions or chip the enemy hero on an empty board.
Body of C'Thun5 ManaSummons a 6/6 minion with TauntDeploy when facing weapon swings or aggressive physical attackers.
Maw of C'Thun5 ManaDestroys one target enemy minionEliminate tall buffs, large threats, or problematic deathrattles cleanly.

Track which pieces you have cast during the match. The complete 10-mana C'Thun will not shuffle into your deck until all four unique fragments have fully resolved.

Managing Card Draw and Hand Size

After ramping, cycle aggressively to find remaining fragments. Spells like Guess the Weight, Nourish, and Overflow pull pieces out of your deck quickly, but hand management is critical.

  • Prevent card burn: Never allow your hand to reach 10 cards before a draw phase or card-drawing spell. If a C'Thun fragment is burned from an overfull hand, C'Thun cannot assemble, permanently removing your primary win condition.
  • Prep for heavy draw: Cast cheap defensive spells or float remaining mana to reduce your hand size to eight cards or fewer before resolving heavy draw cards like Overflow.

Surviving Aggro and Executing Lethal

Aggressive opponents will attempt to rush down your hero while you spend turns ramping and playing reactive spells.

  1. Prioritize survival over value: Do not hold Heart of C'Thun waiting for a full board. Wiping two or three low-cost minions is worth preventing recurring board damage.
  2. Layer defense: Combine armor gain with the 6/6 Taunt from Body of C'Thun to stabilize outside of direct spell lethal range.
  3. Clear minions before playing C'Thun: C'Thun's Battlecry deals 30 damage split among all enemy targets. If the opponent has a crowded board, their minions will absorb the majority of the damage. Trade your existing minions or cast leftover removal to strip the board bare before dropping C’Thun, ensuring all 30 damage hits the enemy hero.
