To pilot C'Thun Warrior effectively in Hearthstone, buff C'Thun to at least 10 Attack as early as possible. Hitting this stat threshold unlocks your primary defensive cards, allowing you to generate substantial Armor, stall opposing boards, and safely set up C'Thun as your late-game finisher.
Reaching the 10-Attack Threshold
C'Thun starts with base 6/6 stats. Cultist minions buff C'Thun wherever it is located—in your hand, inside your deck, or on the board. You do not need to draw C'Thun before playing your buff cards.
To reach 10 Attack efficiently during early turns, follow this curve:
- Turn 2: Play Beckoner of Evil. Its Battlecry grants C'Thun +2/+2, raising its stats to 8/8.
- Turn 3: Play Disciple of C'Thun to deal 2 damage to an enemy and buff C'Thun, or deploy Twilight Elder for recurring end-of-turn stat increases.
- Turn 4: Play C'Thun's Chosen. Its Divine Shield helps contest the board, and its Battlecry provides the final +2/+2 needed to cross the 10-Attack requirement.
If you miss your early cultists, do not play cards out of desperation. Use Armor Up! each turn and equip weapons like Fiery War Axe to remove opposing threats without expending key single-target spells.
Mid-Game Control and Armor Synergies
Surviving against aggressive decks requires disciplined removal. Use targeted tools to preserve board balance before relying on full board resets:
- Shield Slam: Spend 1 mana to remove large threats by converting your accumulated Armor into direct damage.
- Execute: Eliminate high-health minions that have taken damage from weapon strikes or minion trades.
- Disciple of C'Thun: Target low-health minions or pop Divine Shields with its 2-damage Battlecry while buffing your deck.
- Brawl: Hold this board clear until an opponent commits three or more minions. Using Brawl against only two moderate threats wastes your primary reset card. Use your Armor pool as a damage buffer while waiting for the opponent to overextend.
Once C'Thun reaches 10 Attack, your key defensive battlecries become active.
| Card Name | Mana Cost | Requirement | Primary Tactical Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ancient Shieldbearer | 6 | C'Thun has 10+ Attack | Adds 10 Armor immediately to lift your hero out of lethal range and boost Shield Slam. |
| Twin Emperor Vek'lor | 7 | C'Thun has 10+ Attack | Summons an additional 4/6 Emperor with Taunt to block incoming attacks. |
| Brann Bronzebeard | 3 | Battlecry active | Doubles Battlecry triggers, yielding 20 Armor with Shieldbearer or an extra Emperor with Vek'lor. |
If C'Thun has only 8 Attack on Turn 6, hold Ancient Shieldbearer in hand. Playing it without the buff gives you a vanilla 6/6 body with no Armor gain, unless you are facing unavoidable lethal damage on the next turn.
Deploying the C'Thun Finisher
C'Thun ends games by distributing random missile damage equal to its Attack across all enemy characters upon entering the battlefield.
- Against wide enemy boards: C'Thun acts as a board clear. Clear low-health tokens using weapons or removal spells before dropping C'Thun so its missiles hit the enemy hero instead of disposable minions.
- Against solitary minions: A 14/14 or larger C'Thun readily destroys one or two heavy threats and directs leftover missile damage straight to the opponent's hero.
- With Brann Bronzebeard: In extended games where mana reduction or turn setup allows, combining Brann Bronzebeard with C'Thun doubles the missile volleys, delivering an immediate lethal finish against high health totals.

Good guide for Hearthstone players. The strategy part was useful.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
