Honkai: Star Rail Story Order and World Progression Guide

To experience the main narrative of Honkai: Star Rail without missing critical context, progress through the worlds in their release order: Herta Space Station, Jarilo-VI, the Xianzhou Luofu, and Penacony. Advancing through this sequence grounds you in the universal threat of Stellarons, introduces key factions like the Astral Express and Stellaron Hunters, and unlocks new combat Paths for the Trailblazer.

Herta Space Station: Prologue and Destruction Path

The story begins aboard the Herta Space Station during an invasion by the Antimatter Legion, the destructive army serving Nanook, the Aeon of Destruction. Stellaron Hunters Kafka and Silver Wolf infiltrate the facility and implant a Stellaron—known as the Cancer of All Worlds—into an artificial receptacle, creating the Trailblazer. Kafka instructs the Trailblazer to follow their own path before departing.

After awakening with amnesia, the Trailblazer meets Astral Express crew members March 7th and Dan Heng, who operate alongside navigator Himeko, Welt Yang, and the conductor Pom-Pom. The Express follows Akivili, the fallen Aeon of the Trailblaze, traveling the cosmos to resolve Stellaron anomalies. During the defense of the station, the Trailblazer channels the Path of Destruction with a physical bat to repel the Doomsday Beast. Following this victory, the crew invites the Trailblazer aboard the Astral Express.

Jarilo-VI: Belobog and the Preservation Path

The Astral Express heads to Jarilo-VI, a planet largely frozen by a centuries-long blizzard and consumed by the Fragmentum. The crew's objective is to locate and seal the planetary Stellaron inside Belobog, the planet's last human settlement.

The investigation reveals a divided society:

• The Overworld: Governed by Supreme Guardian Cocolia Rand and her adopted heir, Bronya.
• The Underworld: An impoverished subterranean district cut off from surface resources and sustained by the Wildfire resistance movement, led by Oleg, Natasha, and Seele.

Cocolia succumbs to the influence of the Stellaron and attempts to sacrifice Belobog. Allied forces, assisted by the robot Svarog and the reactivation of the Engine of Creation, push through the Fragmentum armies to Everwinter Hill. When Cocolia impales the Trailblazer, the protagonist draws on the Will of Preservation (Qlipoth), manifests a flaming lance, and unlocks the Fire Preservation Path. Following Cocolia's defeat, Bronya becomes Supreme Guardian, conceals Cocolia's corruption to preserve public order, and reunites the Overworld and Underworld.

The Xianzhou Luofu: The Hunt and the Lord Ravager

Kafka contacts the Astral Express to divert the crew toward the Xianzhou Luofu, a massive flagship world of the Xianzhou Alliance. A Stellaron has destabilized the ship, triggering an outbreak of the "Mara-struck"—a degenerative state affecting long-life species blessed by Yaoshi, the Aeon of Abundance. The Alliance, devoted to Lan the Aeon of The Hunt, views Yaoshi's blessing as a curse.

The Trailblazer assists Cloud Knight General Jing Yuan and Master Diviner Fu Xuan in suppressing an internal cult called the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus. During the campaign, Dan Heng is forced to embrace his past identity as Dan Feng, former High Elder, awakening as Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae.

The crisis culminates in the discovery that Tingyun, an envoy of the merchant guild, was being impersonated by Phantylia the Undying. As a Lord Ravager serving Nanook, Phantylia seeks to destroy the Luofu by merging the power of Destruction with the Ambrosial Arbor's Abundance energy. A combined assault by Jing Yuan, Dan Heng, and the Astral Express defeats Phantylia, exposing a broader war between cosmic Aeons.

Penacony: The Dreamscape and the Harmony Path

The Astral Express travels to Penacony in the Asdana system after receiving an invitation from The Family to celebrate the Charmony Festival. Once an Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) prison planet, Penacony has been transformed into a commercial dreamscape powered by Dreamweaver technology.

Multiple external factions converge at the Reverie Hotel, each pursuing conflicting goals:

• Acheron: An Emanator of Nihility posing as a Galaxy Ranger.
• Aventurine: An IPC senior manager intent on reclaiming the world for the corporation.
• Firefly: A member of the Stellaron Hunters operating under the armored identity of SAM.
• Sunday and The Family: Conspirators aiming to resurrect Ena the Order through the power of the Harmony, trapping humanity in an inescapable, peaceful dream.

The Trailblazer awakens the Path of Harmony by embracing Clockie's legacy and wielding a ceremonial hat. Supported by the Astral Express crew and allied factions, the Trailblazer defeats Sunday and Dominicus, dismantling the illusion and securing safe passage for future Trailblaze missions.
