To win team battles and secure matches in Honor of Kings, transition from chasing isolated kills to controlling map objectives and managing minion waves. Converting map pressure into late-game victories requires systematic jungle invades, objective pit setup, disciplined team fight targeting, and side-lane wave maintenance.
Execute Early-Game Jungle Invades
Establishing map dominance starts within the first two minutes of a match. High-mobility assassins and roaming supports should track the enemy jungler's starting buff to identify their movement path and open opportunities for invades.
- Track the Starter Buff: Observe which side of the jungle the enemy jungler starts on based on early lane appearances.
- Collapse on the Entry Point: Contest the opposite jungle camp entry point before the enemy jungler completes their initial rotation.
- Deny the Second Buff: Stealing or stalling the second buff delays the enemy jungler's level progression, creating a clear window to claim the first Dragon or Tyrant without equal contest.
Prioritize Map Objectives Over Solo Kills
Dragon and Tyrant objectives provide permanent team-wide buffs that scale far better into the match than individual kill gold. Avoid over-extending for single kills if it exposes your map position or leaves major objective pits unguarded.
- Clear Vision Early: Establish vision control around the objective pit prior to the spawn timer ending.
- Zone the Opposition: Use objective pits to force enemy responses. If the enemy team attempts to contest, position your frontline to zone them away rather than chasing deep into enemy territory.
- Disengage After Securing: Secure the Dragon or Tyrant objective, then fall back to reset rather than taking unnecessary trade-kill risks.
Structure Team Fight Execution
High-level team fights rely on defined positioning and cooldown tracking rather than using abilities immediately upon availability.
- Front-to-Back Positioning: Position high-durability tanks and fighters in front to absorb initial enemy skill rotations. This protects backline carries, allowing mid-lane mages and marksmen to deal uninterrupted damage.
- Target High-Value Threats: Direct your team's crowd control toward the enemy marksman or mid-lane mage during engagements.
- Track Defensive Cooldowns: Hold key ultimates until enemy targets exhaust mobility skills or defensive spells such as Purify.
Manage Late-Game Side-Lane Pressure
Grouping all five players in the mid lane during the late game limits map control and invites defensive stalls.
Assign a hero with high wave-clear capabilities to push side-lane minion waves deep into enemy territory before grouping for neutral objectives. Pushing multiple lanes forces opponents to assign a defender to clear the wave, creating a numerical advantage for your main group at the primary objective or tower push.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Good guide for Honor of Kings players. The early game part was useful.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
