To maximize early combat clearing on an archer in IdleOn - Idle RPG, invest your initial talent points into Sharpened Axe and Gilded Sword on Tab 1 before spending points on Piercing Arrow and High Polymer Bowstring on Tab 2. Early progression through Blunder Hills depends on flat weapon power rather than raw main-stat scaling, with just enough Agility allocated to hit the 100% accuracy requirement for your target zone.
Tab 1: Base Damage and Accuracy Priority
Early weapons contribute minimal flat weapon power, which causes percentage-based modifiers and raw Agility to give poor initial returns. Sharpened Axe provides direct flat weapon power to every attack and skill, creating the base value that all subsequent multipliers scale.
- Max Sharpened Axe first: This raises your damage floor and ceiling immediately across all early maps.
- Invest into Gilded Sword second: Once Sharpened Axe provides a solid baseline, Gilded Sword multiplies that overall damage pool.
- Add points to Quickness Boots as needed: Quickness Boots increases Agility. While Agility adds secondary damage scaling, prioritize it strictly to maintain your hit chance.
- Take Meat Shank conditionally: Allocate points here only if you need marginal extra damage scaling off maximum health while surviving harder hits.
| Talent Name | Type | Priority | Primary Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sharpened Axe | Passive (Tab 1) | High | Grants flat weapon power to establish your damage baseline. |
| Gilded Sword | Passive (Tab 1) | High | Multiplies overall damage output as a percentage bonus. |
| Quickness Boots | Stat Passive (Tab 1) | Situational | Increases Agility to reach zone accuracy thresholds. |
| Meat Shank | Passive (Tab 1) | Low | Converts maximum health into minor bonus damage. |
Tab 2: Skill Unlocks and Damage Scaling
Tab 2 introduces active piercing attacks, direct bow-scaling passives, and town production utility.
- Piercing Arrow: Allocate points here first. Unlike basic attacks, this active skill shoots through multiple enemies along horizontal platforms, significantly raising active clear speed and calculated AFK kill rates on crowded maps.
- High Polymer Bowstring: Level this alongside Piercing Arrow to gain additional weapon power directly scaled from your equipped bow.
- Strafe: Add points to boost attack speed, shortening firing animations during active grinding.
- Acme Anvil: Place early utility points here to increase production point generation in the Blunder Hills Smithing tab. This passive production yields continuous Smithing experience to unlock craftable equipment recipes—such as iron armor and upgraded bows—without slowing down your combat grinding.
Managing the 100% Accuracy Threshold
Archers derive accuracy from their primary attribute, Agility. Pushing into deeper Blunder Hills maps (such as Glublins and Baby Boas) requires monitoring monster accuracy requirements. If your hit chance drops below 100%, calculated AFK kill efficiency drops sharply because missed hits reduce hourly exp and item drops.
To maintain accuracy without wasting damage points:
- Check the map card or Codex before leaving your archer to grind offline.
- Add single points into Quickness Boots only until your hit chance reaches 100% against that monster.
- Use equipment slots (such as crafted copper or wooden rings and upgraded bows) to supply baseline agility so you do not divert points away from weapon power talents.
Active vs. AFK Grinding Configuration
Adjust your skill and inventory loadout depending on whether you are running the game actively or gathering offline gains:
- Active Grinding: Equip Piercing Arrow and your movement or speed buffs to the auto-use bar. Position your character on flat, linear platforms where piercing projectiles hit multiple stacked targets in a single shot.
- AFK Grinding: Offline calculations evaluate your damage floor, survival rate, and active skill levels to determine hourly progress. Always stock your food slots with healing items like Hot Dogs or Nomwich before logging off, as running out of food causes character death and drops your AFK efficiency to zero.

Can you add more details about early game in a future update?
This helped me understand early game much better.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
