To unlock the Journeyman secret class in IdleOn - Idle RPG, you must keep a character completely unspecialized as a Beginner, craft standard and Golden Peanuts, and complete the hidden questlines from Bushlyte and Rocklyte in World 1. Accepting a standard class promotion from Promethius permanently locks that character out of becoming a Journeyman.
Beginner Requirement and Character Slot Recommendation
Promethius offers class promotions into Warrior, Archer, or Mage once a character reaches combat level 10 in Blunder Hills. You must decline or ignore this offer. Class choices in IdleOn - Idle RPG are permanent; picking any primary archetype invalidates the character for the Journeyman questline.
Because unclassed Beginners lack base damage modifiers and weapon masteries, early combat progression is slow. Unless you specifically want a slow start, avoid using your first character for this path. Reserving your fourth or fifth character slot allows your Beginner to benefit from account-wide storage, shared stamps, forge production, and passive stat bonuses from your established characters.
Crafting Peanuts and the Golden Peanut
Both quest-givers require food offerings to proceed. You must unlock the recipe for Peanuts before you can craft the tribute items.
- Travel to Froggy Fields and speak with Picnic Stowaway.
- Complete his initial daily quest by turning in the requested items, such as Frog Legs and Bean Slices, to receive the Peanut Recipe slip.
- Use the recipe slip at the Blunder Hills anvil to unlock the recipe in your crafting menu.
| Item | Crafting Ingredients | Source Locations |
|---|---|---|
| Peanut | 2 Hot Dogs, 1 Copper Ore, 1 Bleach Logs | Town Vendor (Hot Dogs), Mining (Copper), Birch Trees (Bleach Logs) |
| Golden Peanut | 50 Peanuts, 1 Gold Bar | Town Anvil Tab 1 (requires Gold Ore smelted in the Forge) |
Craft between 60 and 70 Peanuts total. Bushlyte consumes regular Peanuts during his challenges, and crafting the single Golden Peanut required for Rocklyte costs 50 regular Peanuts alongside a smelted Gold Bar.
Bushlyte Quest Steps in Jungle Perimeter
Bushlyte is hidden behind tree foliage near the upper platform of Jungle Perimeter, which is reached through the upper portal of Valley of the Beans. Tap on Bushlyte to start his sequence of trials:
- Deliver Peanuts: Hand over the requested Peanuts to prove your intent.
- The Dice Roll: Trigger Bushlyte's dice prompt. The outcome is determined by RNG; if the roll fails to satisfy the requirement, retry the interaction until it succeeds. Keep your extra quest items safe in your inventory throughout this process.
- Unequipped Monster Defeat: Defeat the designated World 1 monsters without any weapon equipped in your weapon slot. Rely on your base stats and fist attacks to finish the kills.
Completing these tasks prompts Bushlyte to direct you toward Rocklyte for the final trial.
Rocklyte and Class Promotion
Rocklyte is located against the cliffside terrain in a secondary map of Blunder Hills. Approach Rocklyte with the prepared Golden Peanut in your inventory:
- Interact with Rocklyte to start the dialogue.
- Hand over 1 Golden Peanut.
- Confirm the promotion dialogue.
Once Rocklyte confirms you have never accepted a class from Promethius, your character class immediately changes from Beginner to Journeyman, unlocking your second talent tab.
Early Journeyman Stat and Talent Allocation
Journeyman relies on LUK instead of STR, AGI, or WIS for both accuracy scaling and baseline offensive performance.
- Luck of the Draw and Indiana Tours (Tab 1): Invest points into raw LUK early. Reaching hit thresholds for deeper World 1 and World 2 zones requires high accuracy, which LUK directly provides for this class.
- Two-Punch (Tab 2): Allocate points into this active attack skill early to compensate for low baseline weapon damage with a multi-hit combat strike.
- Happy Dude and Canned LUK (Tab 2): Prioritize these passive talents once your combat accuracy is sufficient for your target zones. These skills raise your overall drop rate and experience gains, establishing the Journeyman as a dedicated rare-loot and crystal-mob farming character.
