Heroic Mode allows only a single life, meaning any leaked enemy results in an immediate loss.

Recommended Starter Loadout

You do not need premium heroes, paid towers, or consumable items to clear this challenge. The default starter setup covers physical burst, magic shred, crowd control, and multi-unit stalling.

Choke Point Placement and Early Waves

Set up your primary defense at the central road junction where enemy paths converge. Spreading towers across isolated pads early in the match divides your firepower and lets fast spirits slip past.

1. Place an Orc Warriors Den at the central junction. Adjust the rally point to catch incoming enemies directly inside the range of your surrounding damage plots.
2. Build a Shadow Archers tower and an Infernal Mage adjacent to the stall point. The Shadow Archers eliminate weak, unarmored spirits, while the Infernal Mage targets high-health and armored entities.
3. Upgrade existing towers to Level 2 and Level 3 before filling distant plots. Leveling up your core structures provides more damage per gold spent than placing multiple un-upgraded Level 1 towers.

Mid-Wave Adjustments and Upgrades

As waves introduce armored spectral units and dense spirit formations, shift your gold into damage specialization:

• Prioritize the Infernal Mage against armored targets. Armored spectral units resist physical damage from Shadow Archers and artillery, making continuous magic burn essential for breaking their defenses.
• Add Goblin Rocket Riders behind your blockers. The artillery's long range softens approaching packs before they engage your foot soldiers, allowing single-target towers to finish weakened enemies quickly.
• Level up Shadow Archers to catch fast leakers. Alternating upgrades between the Infernal Mage and Shadow Archers ensures balanced single-target damage against both armored and unarmored targets.

Veruk Micro and Reinforcement Tactics

Because Heroic Mode offers zero margin for error, active unit management is required to prevent leaks while barracks units respawn.

• Stagger blocking waves. Drop Call Reinforcements directly onto active fights rather than behind them. Using reinforcements while your Orc Warriors are downed maintains the stall without letting runners slip through.
• Hold Veruk's summon for peak wave density. Summoning extra Orc bodyguards when large groups or heavy spectral bruisers arrive creates a temporary wall of blockers. This buys time for the Infernal Mage to ramp up burn damage and lets artillery land multiple volleys.

During the final surges, enemy density increases significantly and can overwhelm basic blockers if abilities are mismanaged:

• Shift rally points dynamically. If your Orc Warriors take heavy damage, pull their rally flag slightly backward into your killzone so they can survive while continuing to delay incoming enemies.
• Target elite leakers with global damage spells. Save emergency damage powers and reinforcement drops for heavily armored or elite phantoms that bypass the main roadblock, rather than spending them on weak trash waves.
• Invest late-game gold into Level 4 special abilities. Maximize the burn and damage multipliers on the Infernal Mage and area-of-effect traits on the Goblin Rocket Riders to clear the final dense waves.
