Countering Guan Yu's 4-Second Nullification

On arena defense decks, Guan Yu activates a damage nullification buff starting approximately four seconds into the fight. Triggering heavy offensive cooldowns during this active window wastes your damage against invulnerable targets, leaving your squad vulnerable to Shu counterattacks.

To bypass this defense:

0–3 Seconds: Rely strictly on basic attacks and initial positioning while your skill gauges fill.
4–7 Seconds: Hold primary offensive skills while Guan Yu's nullification shield remains active. Use this interval to trigger defensive buffs or sustain skills if needed.
8+ Seconds: Unleash Gan Ning's direct physical burst alongside Lu Xun's area-of-effect magic once the shield drops to eliminate the exposed frontline.

Defeat the vanguard before Zhuge Liang ramps up: Zhuge Liang exerts devastating crowd control and tactical magic late in the encounter. You cannot win an extended battle of attrition against him. Breaking Guan Yu and Zhao Yun immediately after the nullification drop clears the path to Zhuge Liang, letting Gan Ning finish the match before Shu's late-fight control takes effect.
