Reaching a 2500+ score in the Last War Frontline Breakthrough event requires maximizing your squad count during Stages 1 through 3, then switching to unit preservation during Stages 4 and 5. Squad power scales exponentially based on your lane choices and gate priority, making early decisions critical to surviving the denser enemy waves later in the run.

Stage 1–3: Gate Priority and Center Lane Positioning

The early stages establish the baseline unit pool needed to clear later obstacles. Early in a run, focus on rapidly building unit density rather than avoiding minor damage.

  • Avoid Subtraction Gates: Never take subtraction gates in Stages 1 or 2. Losing troops early creates a compound deficit that severely limits your scoring potential in later stages.
  • Calculate Gate Value: Early in a run when your squad count is low, large additive gates (+10, +20) often yield more total troops than small multipliers (1.5x, 2x). In later stages, high multipliers (2x, 3x) become vastly superior as your base unit count grows.
  • Maintain Center Lane Focus: Stick to the center lanes as your default position. Center lanes provide consistent access to unit-add gates and power-ups without forcing sharp lane shifts into static hazards. Drift to outer lanes only when high-value multiplier gates appear.
  • Trade Health for Multipliers: Passing through a small hazard to hit a 2x or 3x multiplier is usually worth the minor unit loss, provided your overall squad health remains stable.

Stage 4–5: Obstacle Avoidance and Strafe Movement

Starting in Stage 4, hazard density increases significantly. Shift your strategy from aggressive expansion to preserving your existing squad block.

  1. Prioritize Open Lanes: Choose paths that minimize collision risks, even if the available gate offers a slightly lower multiplier.
  2. Strafe Around Heavy Targets: Large obstacles such as buses and heavy enemies in Stage 5 act as gatekeepers that rapidly deplete squad numbers. Use quick lane switches to dodge head-on collisions.
  3. Recover with Green Gates: If heavy damage drops your unit count below critical levels, immediately prioritize green additive gates to stabilize your squad before attempting further multipliers.

Loadout Constraints and Performance Bottlenecks

While execution dictates run efficiency, overall score capacity is ultimately constrained by account progression. Base squad stats and active hero loadouts set the damage ceiling required to clear dense enemy waves. If runs consistently stall during Stage 4 despite clean lane navigation, adjust hero loadouts to maximize active combat buffs before attempting another high-score attempt.
