In Last War Season 1, the Level Swap feature allows you to exchange the level values of two heroes instantly. To perform a swap, open the Season 1 event interface, select the high-level hero whose experience you want to reallocate, and select the target hero who will receive that level. The exchange takes effect immediately without requiring Hero EXP books or a standard character reset.
How Level Swap Works
Level Swap trades the exact base level numbers between the two selected heroes. The higher-level unit drops to the level of the lower-level unit, and the recipient hero immediately jumps to the higher level.
This exchange directly affects level-dependent statistics:
- Troop Capacity: Scales immediately to match the newly assigned level.
- Base Attributes: Attack, Defense, and HP adjust to the new level value.
- Squad Power: The drill ground power and march combat rating update to reflect the new base stats.
Level Swap does not transfer all progression elements. Only raw experience levels move between heroes.
| Hero Progression Element | Transferred in Swap? | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Base Hero Level | Yes | Directly exchanged between both units. |
| Troop Capacity | Yes | Recalculated according to the new level. |
| Base Stats (HP, ATK, DEF) | Yes | Adjusted to match the new level tier. |
| Skill Levels | No | Remains on the original hero. |
| Star Rating | No | Stays tied to consumed hero shards. |
| Equipment & Exclusive Gear | No | Remains equipped to the original hero. |
When to Use Hero Level Swap
Because leveling a hero from level 1 requires significant Hero EXP and gold, Level Swap serves as a shortcut for major squad transitions:
- Pivoting Squad Types: If you invested early resources into a full tank squad using heroes like Murphy, Mason, or Violet, you can transfer those levels into aircraft units such as DVA, Carlie, or Schuyler once your aircraft tech is ready.
- Deploying Newly Acquired UR Heroes: Late-acquired UR heroes often sit idle due to lack of EXP. A swap brings them directly to your main squad's level tier.
- Building Counter Formations: If opposing alliances run heavy tank squads, you can rapidly promote missile or specialized counter units to field a competitive march without draining your account's broader economy.
Pitfalls to Avoid Before Swapping
Swapping base levels into an undeveloped unit does not guarantee a combat-ready march. Avoid these common mistakes:
- Neglecting Star Ratings: A high-level hero with zero stars often underperforms compared to a lower-level hero with 5 stars. Do not swap your main carry's level to a replacement hero unless their star tier can support competitive combat.
- Ignoring Skill Levels: Level Swap does not move skill points. If your recipient hero has level 1 skills, their damage output and utility will drop sharply. Prepare skill medals to level their abilities before sending them into Warzone Duel or Capital Clash.
- Missing Equipment: Gear does not automatically transfer during a level swap. Ensure you have appropriate legendary gear (gun, armor, radar, and chip) ready for the recipient hero to prevent a sudden drop in squad effectiveness.
Best Timing for a Swap
Execute your level swaps during quiet periods rather than during active PvP defense or kill events. Changing levels mid-battle can leave your defensive wall lineup weakened while you rearrange gear and squad formations. Plan swaps ahead of Alliance VS hero development days or right after a Warzone Duel round concludes, giving you time to equip gear, upgrade skills, and set your defensive march presets.
