To upgrade Ultra Rare (UR gold) equipment to Mythic Rare (MR red) in Last War, promote the main weapon of your primary backline damage dealer first. Only start spending red Mythic blueprints on frontline defense after your carry's weapon reaches the MR tier.

Upgrade Prerequisites

A piece of gear cannot jump directly into MR status. It must reach the UR progression cap before the red promotion path becomes available.

  • Level Requirement: Level 40.
  • Star Rating: 4 stars.
  • Base Materials: Standard gold blueprints, gold gear ceramic ore, and coins.

Once a piece satisfies these requirements, the promotion interface unlocks. Further advancement requires red blueprints and specialized promotion ores.

Equipment Promotion Order

Concentrating scarce red blueprints on specific gear slots yields much higher combat efficiency than distributing them evenly.

1. Primary Carry Weapon

Matches in Last War are heavily determined by which squad cycles backline burst skills first. Upgrading the weapon on your primary damage dealer (such as Kimberly in tank formations or DVA in aircraft formations) provides the largest raw Attack increase in the game. Tanks and supports receive negligible offensive value from weapon upgrades, making them poor targets for your first red blueprints.

2. Lead Tank Armor or Radar

After finishing your primary carry's weapon, direct your next batch of red materials to your main frontline tank's defensive gear. Choose between Body Armor and Radar based on your primary defensive needs:

  • Radar (Energy and Critical Resistance): Equip this first if you regularly face energy-focused carries like Kimberly or high-burst aircraft teams. The increased critical resistance prevents your frontline from collapsing during opening skill rotations.
  • Body Armor (Physical Defense): Equip this first if opposing lineups rely primarily on kinetic damage and standard vehicle attacks.

3. Tactical Chips and Support Gear

Leave Tactical Chips and support hero gear at standard UR until your first squad's core weapons and defensive pieces are established. The survivability and offensive bonuses provided by Chips do not match the impact of weapons, armor, or radars per blueprint spent.

Managing Red Blueprints

Red blueprints and specialized ores are among the scarcest progression items in Last War. To maximize their account value, follow these rules:

  1. Focus on Squad 1: Never split red blueprints between your First Squad and Second Squad. A single squad with a concentrated MR carry weapon outperforms rosters with partial upgrades scattered across multiple marches.
  2. Time Promotions for Events: Hold your red blueprints and promotion ores until the gear-enhancement bracket of Alliance VS. Converting gear during designated event days secures high-tier milestone chests, diamonds, and alliance points alongside the combat stat increase.
