In STALZONE, dying in the open-world Zone does not strip away your equipped weapons, armor, or character progress. Instead, only unbanked loot gathered during that excursion drops upon elimination. When your backpack contains vital materials, your immediate next action should be breaking off the expedition to extract at a faction base rather than risking those resources in deeper sectors.

What You Keep and What You Lose on Death

Unlike full-loot extraction shooters, STALZONE secures your active loadout and account standing behind persistent systems. You do not return to base with an empty inventory or standard issue starter kit after losing a firefight.

Because your primary gear is never lost to rival players or anomalies, you can bring your best equipment on every run to contest objectives and defend yourself. The only asset at stake during combat is the field salvage acquired since your last departure from base.

When to Extract vs. When to Push Deeper

Pushing deeper into the Zone yields higher-tier resources, but it also increases exposure to hazardous environmental threats and hostile players. Your decision to head home should be governed by your inventory value rather than your remaining health or ammo alone.

Initiate an extraction to your faction base whenever any of the following conditions occur:

  1. You secure upgrade-critical items: If your backpack holds specific components required for immediate base or weapon upgrades, stop scavenging. Securing those components permanently advances your progression.
  2. Defensive supplies run low: Running low on medical supplies or ammunition turns ordinary encounters into fatal traps. Disengage before reaching zero utility.
  3. Heavy gunfire sounds ahead: If your inventory is already filled with valuable salvage, avoid traveling toward active multi-party firefights. Entering an ongoing battle risks your entire haul for marginal extra space.

Managing Runs with a Five-Player Squad

STALZONE supports squads of up to five players. Operating as a full fireteam mitigates individual risk and helps safeguard unextracted salvage:

  • Escort carrying players: When a teammate picks up high-value barter or upgrade materials, assign other squad members to provide perimeter defense and clear routes.
  • Control engagement lines: Use staggered firing positions to prevent rival teams or territorial threats from ambushing the group while searching containers.
  • Coordinate returns: Extract together once the team's combined hauls justify a run, ensuring players carrying priority items reach base safely.

Once your squad arrives at a faction hub, unload all field salvage into your persistent faction storage before re-equipping supplies and deploying back into the Zone.
