To scale and secure burst takedowns on Veigar in League of Legends: Wild Rift, farm minion kills with Baleful Strike to build permanent Ability Power, catch targets on the perimeter of Event Horizon, and finish weakened enemies with Primordial Burst.
How to Stack Phenomenal Evil Power
Veigar scales infinitely through his passive, Phenomenal Evil Power. Hitting an enemy champion with any ability grants one stack of permanent Ability Power (AP), and scoring a champion takedown awards additional stacks.
Baleful Strike serves as your primary tool for gathering passive stacks during the laning phase. The ability fires a bolt of energy in a straight line that passes through the first target to strike a second. Killing a unit with Baleful Strike permanently increases your AP.
| Target Last-Hit | Stacks Earned | Farming Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Minion (Melee or Caster) | 1 Stack | Baseline wave farming |
| Siege Minion or Super Minion | 2 Stacks | High priority; secure with Baleful Strike |
| Large Jungle Monster | 2 Stacks | Mid-game objective camps |
| Enemy Champion Hit | 1 Stack | Harass bonus on spell impact (no kill required) |
To conserve mana in lane, line up Baleful Strike so it executes a low-health minion and hits an enemy champion standing directly behind it. This awards stacks from both the unit kill and the champion hit on a single cast. Avoid using spells on full-health waves without vision, as Veigar has no movement dashes to escape incoming ganks.
Landing the Event Horizon and Dark Matter Combo
Dark Matter deals heavy area-of-effect magic damage after a brief delay. Because of this delay, enemy champions can walk out of the impact zone unless they are immobilized. Landing Dark Matter reliably requires using Event Horizon.
Event Horizon summons a pentagonal boundary that stuns enemies who touch its edge. To guarantee the stun:
- Place the boundary edge directly on the target. Casting the edge of the cage onto the enemy stuns them the moment the perimeter appears, giving them no time to react or dash away.
- Drop Dark Matter directly under the stunned enemy. The stun duration keeps the target immobilized until Dark Matter lands.
- Cast Baleful Strike immediately. Fire the bolt through the immobilized target before the stun ends to maximize burst damage and gain an extra passive stack.
Even if an enemy avoids touching the boundary, trapping them inside the cage confines their movement, making it easy to hit them with skillshots.
Finishing Low-Health Enemies with Primordial Burst
Primordial Burst is a targeted single-target spell that scales its damage based on the enemy's missing health. Casting the ability on a full-health target wastes its damage potential.
- Save the ultimate for executions: Cast Primordial Burst once your Baleful Strike and Dark Matter rotation lowers a target to around 35–40% health.
- Counter defensive tools: Because the projectile cannot be dodged once launched, it eliminates mobile assassins, duelists, or carries before they can trigger lifesteal or low-health shields.
Teamfight Positioning and Zone Control
Veigar lacks innate mobility, dashes, or shields. Overextending to land basic abilities leaves you vulnerable to crowd control and quick elimination.
- Position behind front-line allies: Maintain spacing behind allied tanks and near your support during mid-to-late-game fights.
- Control choke points: Cast Event Horizon across narrow paths around Dragon and Baron pits to split the enemy team. This forces opponents to burn defensive tools like the Quicksilver Enchantment or Flash to get through.
- Punish divers: When an enemy crosses the cage perimeter, immediately follow up with Dark Matter, Baleful Strike, and Primordial Burst to burst them down.
