To execute Zyra's kit effectively in League of Legends: Wild Rift, always cast your primary spells before placing seeds with Rampant Growth. Buffering a seed during the cast animation of Deadly Spines or Grasping Roots transforms the seed instantly, denying opponents the opportunity to step on it or dodge the blooming plant.
Seed Generation and Plant Variants
Zyra's damage and crowd control revolve around transforming dormant seeds into specialized plants. Seeds spawn passively through Garden of Thorns or actively via Rampant Growth charges. Placing a seed directly into a spell path determines which plant type sprouts:
- Thorn Spitter (Deadly Spines + Seed): Spawns a long-range plant that fires at nearby enemies, prioritizing targets recently struck by Zyra’s basic attacks or abilities. Thorn Spitters provide continuous poke from outside standard attack range.
- Vine Lasher (Grasping Roots + Seed): Spawns a melee-range plant whose attacks apply a stacking movement speed slow. Vine Lashers peel diving enemies and help maintain distance against advancing targets.
Dormant seeds grant brief vision when landing, making them useful for checking unwarded brush. However, enemies can crush inactive seeds by stepping on them, which makes mid-cast buffering essential during combat trades.
Plant Empowerment with Stranglethorns
Stranglethorns acts as Zyra's primary teamfight tool. Casting it creates a wide thicket that deals magic damage and knocks up trapped enemies after a two-second delay.
In addition to crowd control, the ultimate empowers existing plants within its zone. Any Thorn Spitter or Vine Lasher inside the thicket resets its duration, gains bonus health, and enters an enraged state with increased attack speed. To maximize teamfight damage, spawn at least two plants immediately before or during the deployment of Stranglethorns so they gain the enrage buff while targets are knocked airborne.
Recommended Ability Combo Sequences
Deploying abilities in the correct order ensures seeds are never wasted and crowd control chains properly.
| Combo Type | Input Sequence | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Long-Range Poke | Q -> W | Harasses opponents under turrets with Thorn Spitter attacks |
| Disengage / Peel | E -> W | Roots approaching divers and slows them with Vine Lashers |
| Full Teamfight Burst | E -> W -> Q -> W -> R | Chains root immobilize, spawns both plant types, and enrages them with the knock-up |
When executing the full burst sequence, cast Grasping Roots and drop a seed along its line to snare the target and summon a Vine Lasher. Follow immediately with Deadly Spines and a second seed directly under the immobilized enemy to create a Thorn Spitter. Drop Stranglethorns over both plants and the rooted target to apply the knock-up and trigger the enraged attack speed buff before the enemy can escape.
