To get the Dark Hook in Legend of the Skyfish 2, clear the opening puzzle rooms of Chapter 7 and claim the tool from the guarded chest in the subterranean gear shrine. Equipping the Dark Hook allows your fishing line to pierce void barriers, pull dark-elemental switches, latch onto shadow anchors, and strip defensive shields from armored enemies.

Where to Find the Dark Hook in Chapter 7

Progress through the linear cavern path in Chapter 7 until you enter the central courtyard. Purple energy nodes block the standard path forward, deflecting normal hook casts.

  1. Take the southern corridor branching away from the central courtyard.
  2. Enter the gear shrine chamber at the end of the hall.
  3. Defeat two waves of corrupted melee guards and floating ranged spellcasters to drop the barrier around the central chest.
  4. Open the chest to collect the Dark Hook.

Once collected, the hook head automatically enters your inventory. Equip or swap hook heads at totem checkpoints or through the equipment wheel.

Standard Hook vs. Dark Hook

The Dark Hook replaces your baseline hook mechanics with void-piercing properties. When aiming near dark-aligned puzzle targets, your aiming reticle shifts from white to purple to signal a valid latch point.

How to Solve Shadow Puzzles

Dungeons following Chapter 7 introduce mechanisms that require line-of-sight targeting with the Dark Hook.

Resonating Eye Switches

Eye switches covered in dark mist will not react to standard attacks. Stand on a stable platform or raft, cast the Dark Hook directly into the center of the eye, and hold the connection until the iris flashes white. Completing the channel temporarily lowers drawbridges or shuts down nearby spike traps. Taking damage from projectiles while channeling breaks the line, requiring you to recast.

Void Bramble Obstacles

Corrupted brambles floating in water channels block raft movement and knock you into the water on contact. Aim the Dark Hook at the glowing core inside the bramble cluster. Reeling in the core pulls the obstacle apart, clearing waterways and uncovering sunken chests with gold and upgrade materials.

Combat Tactics and Shield Stripping

Enemies encountered in Chapter 7 and onward frequently project dark energy shields that deflect normal blade strikes and baseline line pulls.

  • Break shields from a distance: Use manual aiming to cast the Dark Hook at shielded heavy brutes or ranged casters. The impact strips their void mantle instantly.
  • Attack during the stagger window: Dropping an enemy shield triggers a brief stagger. Reel directly toward the target to land blade combos before the protective shield recharges.
  • Interrupt ritual casts: Ranged void cultists channel large area-of-effect spells signaled by purple circles on the floor. Hitting them with the Dark Hook cancels the channel and drags them out of position.
  • Lead moving targets: The Dark Hook travels slightly slower through the air than the standard hook. Aim slightly ahead of moving enemies across open arenas to avoid missing and leaving yourself open.

The later corridors of Stage 7 feature dissolving floor tiles and rolling spike pillars. Before stepping onto unstable surfaces, look upward for ceiling-mounted void nodes or elevated shadow pillars. Latching onto high anchors lets you swing across hazardous floor sections and bypass pressure-plate traps. When facing charging mini-bosses, latch onto these overhead anchors right as the enemy charges forward to leap over the attack and land behind them for a follow-up strike.
