To clear Hard mode story boss battles in Ninja Turtles: Legends without losing a fighter, enter the final wave with your squad above 70% health and all primary abilities off cooldown. Once the boss stage begins, eliminate hostile support minions before targeting the chapter boss, and rotate crowd control and defensive buffs to mitigate high-damage enemy turns.

Running five offensive units leaves your squad vulnerable to sudden area-of-effect (AoE) wipes and concentrated single-target bursts. A zero-casualty clear relies on balancing protection, sustain, and turn disruption.

RoleCore Battlefield FunctionEssential Skill Traits

Ensure your healer carries a cleanse effect. Hard mode encounters often feature bosses and minions that inflict Defense Down or damage-over-time statuses like poison, bleed, or burn. Left unaddressed, these effects allow normal boss attacks to defeat your fighters in a single turn.

Wave Stalling and Cooldown Management

Entering wave three with major abilities on cooldown is the primary cause of squad wipes on Hard difficulty. Waves one and two must serve as preparation phases for the boss encounter.

  1. Clear high-threat minions early. Use basic attacks and short-cooldown skills during the opening turns of waves one and two to eliminate fast or high-damage enemies.
  2. Isolate a single weak enemy. Leave one basic opponent alive, such as an unbuffed Foot Soldier or Kraang Drone.
  3. Stall using basic attacks. Target the remaining weak minion exclusively with standard attacks. Avoid using high-impact abilities so their cooldown timers can fully refresh.
  4. Top off squad health. Cycle your healing skills while the lone minion remains on the board. Do not deliver the final blow until your party's health bars are near full and all ultimate abilities are ready.

Boss Wave Target Priority

Hard mode bosses regularly spawn alongside minions that supply healing, attack enhancements, or disruptive debuffs. Leaving these companions active prolongs the battle and increases incoming damage on your frontline.

  • Primary targets: Hostile healers and attack buffers. Defeating these units immediately removes actions from the enemy turn rotation and prevents the boss from receiving recovery or damage amplifiers.
  • Secondary targets: High-damage AoE minions. If you cannot defeat them before their first turn, lock them down with single-target stuns while finishing off the primary support.
  • Final target: The chapter boss. Once the supporting minions are eliminated, concentrate your team's damage on the boss, applying Defense Down debuffs to accelerate the kill.

Turn-Meter Control and Burst Mitigation

Hard mode bosses deal significant damage with their standard attacks and can wipe an entire team with signature specials. Surviving protracted fights requires actively tracking the turn meters above enemy health bars.

Staggering Crowd Control

Avoid stacking multiple control abilities on the same turn. If an enemy boss is already afflicted with Stun, hold abilities that inflict Ability Block or Turn Meter Reduction until the stun expires. If a boss resists full stuns, apply Speed reduction and Attack Down debuffs to delay their skill rotation and weaken incoming hits.

Surviving Boss Special Attacks

Endgame opponents like Shredder, Tiger Claw, and Karai utilize high-damage intervals that require immediate defensive preparation. When a boss's signature special ability is ready:

  • Cast team-wide Defense Up or Dodge buffs on the turn immediately preceding the boss's action.
  • Apply Attack Down directly to the boss to reduce their burst potential.
  • Activate your tank's Taunt only if their health is high and self-defense buffs are active, redirecting heavy single-target nukes away from your utility units.
  • Hold high-output burst heals in reserve rather than using them on minor chip damage, allowing you to instantly restore team health after an unavoidable team-wide hit.
