To secure a top-two finish with an exclusive Wolf Clan roster in Northgard Battlegrounds, establish aggressive board tempo in the opening rounds, anchor your mid-game around an off-center Berserker, and spend gold on board slots rather than searching for off-clan synergies.

A mono-Wolf board relies entirely on physical burst and escalating attack speed. Because the clan lacks the innate healing of the Goat Clan and the protective shields or heavy armor of the Bear Clan, it cannot win prolonged battles of attrition. Against fully optimized late-game boards running area-of-effect spells and deep crowd control, pure Wolf armies will eventually fall off. Targeting a reliable second-place finish is the most consistent goal.

Early-Round Drafting Steps

Early rounds are decided by unit numbers and baseline damage rather than intricate combinations. Draft base Wolf units immediately and avoid spending currency on off-clan options.

  1. Rounds 1–2: Buy every standard Wolf Warrior offered in the shop to establish frontline presence and prevent early round damage.
  2. Round 3: Purchase an Axe Thrower to add ranged damage, placing them directly behind your Warriors.
  3. Round 4: Combine matching pairs on your bench into two-star units instead of purchasing extra board slots to maximize immediate stat efficiency.
  4. Rounds 5–6: Scout opposing boards. Adjust your deployed units to maintain a 2:1 ratio of frontline melee to backline ranged attackers.

If the shop does not offer Wolf pieces, hold your gold to advance your leveling curve instead of rerolling.

Unit Roles and Positioning

The Berserker is the primary carry of a pure Wolf composition. His passive abilities convert incoming damage into attack speed and cleaving strikes. To prevent him from being focused down before his passives activate, place him slightly off-center in the front row with standard Warriors on his flanks.

Economy and Reroll Rules

A single-clan commitment restricts your eligible card pool. Over-rolling early depletes your economy and leaves your board down on total unit slots.

  • When to hold and level: Keep your gold to buy board slot upgrades under normal conditions. An additional Wolf Warrior on the field absorbs damage and protects your carries more effectively than an uncombined unit sitting on your bench.
  • When to reroll: Reroll aggressively only when holding two pairs of high-impact units, such as Berserkers or Axe Throwers. In that situation, finding a single duplicate provides an immediate three-star upgrade.

Late-Game Spacing

Late-game opponents rely on wide area-of-effect spells and stuns. Clustering your melee units in the center allows a single enemy spell to wipe your board before your Berserker ramps up.

  • Widen the frontline: Spread your melee units across the full width of your deployment zone. This fractures the battle into isolated skirmishes and prevents cleaving spells from hitting multiple targets.
  • Separate ranged units: Space your Axe Throwers at least two hexes apart in the backline. This prevents flankers or line-clearing abilities from neutralizing all of your ranged damage at once.
