To survive the Manticore in the Fortis Colosseum, watch the creature's pre-attack charging animations to read its three-hit attack sequence, then switch your overhead protection prayers every 0.6 seconds (one game tick) as the hits calculate.

Manticore Attack Cues and Corresponding Prayers

When the Manticore targets you, it charges three attacks in a specific queue before launching them. Each attack uses Magic, Ranged, or Melee. Because the attacks connect on consecutive game ticks, you cannot react after the projectiles are airborne; you must memorize the sequence from the visual charge animations.

How to Execute the 1-Tick Switch Sequence

After the telegraph finishes, the Manticore releases its attacks on consecutive game ticks. Each game tick lasts 0.6 seconds.

  1. Pre-select the first prayer: Open your prayer book while the Manticore charges. Activate the overhead prayer that matches the first telegraph before the first projectile hits.
  2. Switch on the second tick: Hover your cursor over the second required prayer. Click it exactly one tick (0.6 seconds) after the first attack registers.
  3. Switch on the third tick: Move your cursor to the final required prayer and click it on the third tick.
  4. Rest or drop prayers: Once the third strike finishes, turn off overhead prayers during the Manticore's idle cooldown to conserve Prayer points unless other monsters are attacking you.

Avoid double-clicking any prayer during the sequence, as an extra click disables the overhead entirely and exposes you to full unblocked damage.

Pillar Positioning and Off-Ticking Other Monsters

In mixed Colosseum waves, facing a Manticore directly while other enemies attack on the same tick will get you killed. Use the arena pillars to manage line of sight:

  • Corner-block behind pillars: The Manticore is a multi-tile monster that paths by its southwest tile. Stand behind pillar corners to block its sightline while you clear melee adds or smaller frontline spawns.
  • Desynchronize attack cycles: If a secondary monster—such as a Jaguar Warrior, Javelin Colossus, or Shockwave Colossus—attacks on the same tick as the Manticore, step behind a pillar to delay the Manticore's line of sight. Re-emerge to force the two monsters onto different ticks. Once their cycles are separated, handle the single hit from the secondary monster before executing your three-tick Manticore prayer rhythm.
  • Fail-safe priority: If attack cycles remain stacked on the same tick, prioritize the overhead prayer against the monster with the highest potential lethal hit.

Gear and Combat Adjustments

If you are using budget armor rather than high-defense gear like Torva or Masori, defensive mistakes are significantly more punishing. Prioritize ranged offensive bonuses to eliminate targets quickly, and bring a weapon with reliable sustain, such as the Toxic Blowpipe, to heal back chip damage using special attacks. Maintain distance so the Manticore remains locked behind pillar geometry until you are ready to engage.
