To kill an adult Eotriceratops as a Tyrannosaurus and Acrocanthosaurus duo in Path of Titans, bait the herbivore into open terrain, establish a 180-degree pincer, and rotate attacks to bleed and break bone without engaging its horns head-on. Never fight an Eotriceratops anchored against rocks or cliff faces, as eliminating its rear blind spot forces predators into lethal frontal trades.

Duo Roles and Responsibilities

The Tyrannosaurus provides raw burst damage, combat weight, and bone break, but suffers from low stamina and sluggish turning. The Acrocanthosaurus brings agility, stamina, and bleed application, but lacks the health pool to trade blows directly.

Three-Phase Combat Sequence

Engagements should follow three distinct steps to avoid frontal damage and maximize stamina efficiency.

  1. Bait the Charge: The Acrocanthosaurus enters the Eotriceratops's forward vision to draw a sprint charge. The Acro must sprint away in a wide arc across open ground rather than in a straight line. The Tyrannosaurus remains off to the side at a trot, staying clear of the charge lane.
  2. Punish the Overextension: When the Eotriceratops ends its charge or misses, its turning speed drops momentarily. The Acrocanthosaurus immediately turns in to land bleed bites on the flank, pulling the herbivore's attention. As the prey turns toward the Acro, the Tyrannosaurus closes in to land a heavy bone-breaking bite on the hips.
  3. Lock the 180-Degree Pincer: Both carnivores must position directly opposite one another. As the Eotriceratops turns to face one attacker, it exposes its rear to the other. The rear predator advances to strike, forcing the trike to turn again and continually surrender attack openings.

Aggro and Stamina Management

Alternate attacks to keep the prey moving while managing predator stamina:

  • Stagger Aggression: When the Eotriceratops focuses on the Tyrannosaurus, the Rex must trot backward or circle defensively to conserve stamina while the Acrocanthosaurus bites the tail to reclaim aggro.
  • Exploit Bleed: Bleed drains health as the Eotriceratops sprints and turns. Once heavy bleed is applied, the duo can widen their spacing and let status damage accumulate.
  • Deny Rest: If the Eotriceratops sits to heal bleed damage, the Tyrannosaurus must immediately charge in and strike with a heavy bite to interrupt the rest animation.

Critical Failure Points

Avoid these common mistakes that lead to failed hunts:

  • Facetanking Horns: Never trade hits with the front of an Eotriceratops. Its horn attacks and collision hitboxes out-trade apex carnivores in direct head-to-head exchanges.
  • Friendly Fire: The Tyrannosaurus has a wide bite radius. The Acrocanthosaurus must stay clear of the Rex’s jaw path to avoid taking catastrophic accidental damage.
  • Enclosed Geometry: If the Eotriceratops backs into a canyon wall or dense obstruction, disengage completely. Re-engage only when the target moves back into open ground.
