To interact with objects, gather resources, or trigger dialogue in Petit Planet, come to a complete stop, open the radial menu, and select the tool or action state required for that specific target. Movement animations must finish before object interactions will register correctly.

Using the Radial Menu for Tools and Interactions

The radial menu replaces standard hotbars for selecting equipment, social actions, and dialogue choices. Opening the menu anchors the cursor to the center of your screen, enabling quick directional inputs to switch active states.

• Tool Selection: Assign core gathering tools—such as the watering can, shovel, or scanner—to primary radial slots. You can maintain directional movement inputs while opening the wheel to select items on the move.
• State Switching: If an object returns an "Invalid Action" or fails to respond, open the radial wheel and switch to an empty-hand state or the specific utility that matches the target node.
• Canceling Selections: If you select an incorrect dialogue option or tool, select the "Cancel" or "Return" icon positioned at the bottom slot of the radial wheel to exit the choice.

Movement Precision and Terrain Traversal

Petit Planet uses a third-person camera system tied directly to character movement. Movement speed remains uniform across different ground types, making distance judgment predictable when navigating complex terrain.

1. Approach Objects Gradually: Decelerate before initiating sharp turns near environmental assets or placed furniture to prevent character clipping.
2. Pan the Camera continuously: Use the mouse or right analog stick to keep your movement target centered in the frame while traveling.
3. Stop Before Action Triggers: Complete your current walking or running animation before attempting to harvest, place items, or talk to NPCs. Triggering an action during a movement animation can cause input cancellation or server registration failures.

Managing NPC Dialogues and Input Latency

NPC interactions rely on the radial interface. Dynamic icons appear near your character and in the center of the wheel based on your proximity to an interactive target.

• Dialogue and Gifting: Approach an NPC and select "Talk" or "Gift" directly from the radial prompts to initiate social actions faster than standard button presses.
• Handling Menu Delay: In dense areas or multi-player spaces observed during the Final Beta test, the radial menu may experience input latency. Hold down the menu button firmly until the wheel populates fully rather than pressing it repeatedly, which causes the interface to flicker and reset your selection.
