To use character expressions in Petit Planet, open your main menu to assign unlocked emotes to your radial menu wheel. Holding the designated radial input button brings up the emote wheel, letting you flick toward an expression to trigger it instantly near NPCs or visiting players.

How to Customize Your Radial Menu Loadout

Because default expression slots are limited, you must manually equip new emotes to your wheel before using them in the world.

1. Open the main menu and select the Expression or Social tab.
2. Select the emote you want to use from your unlocked collection.
3. Map the selected emote to an available cardinal or diagonal direction on the radial wheel.

Using Expressions with NPCs

Triggering expressions near NPCs serves as a social mechanic beyond cosmetic animation:

• Flavor Dialogue: Using specific emotes after completing tasks or receiving rewards can prompt NPCs to display unique dialogue responses.
• Timing: Open the radial wheel while standing directly next to an NPC. Flicking the input input toward your assigned expression triggers the animation without having to exit your current conversation range.

Multiplayer Communication and Positioning

When visiting other players' planets or hosting guests, expressions provide quick non-verbal communication without text chat:

• Arrival and Trade Etiquette: Use a simple wave emote when landing on another planet, and use a thank-you expression after trading resources or completing shared tasks like farming.
• Positioning: Stand clear of narrow pathways, doorways, and planetary docking zones before triggering an expression. Long character animations can briefly block high-traffic areas if activated in tight spots.
