During early expeditions (Worlds 1 through 6) in Pokémon Quest, you can safely ignore sub-stats and Move Stone optimization. Simply equipping whichever Power Stones provide the highest raw Attack (ATK) or HP will clear stages. Once your team reaches World 7 and later boss encounters, raw health and attack values alone will not keep your squad alive. Surviving late-game difficulty spikes requires transitioning to tiered Power Stones with recovery sub-stats—chiefly Hit Healing—and running team-wide buff synergies with Move Stones.

Power Stone Sub-Stats to Prioritize

Common gray Power Stones provide only flat ATK or HP, but tiered stones (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) roll with up to three random secondary attributes. A lower-rated tiered stone with functional sub-stats offers significantly more survivability than a higher-rated gray stone that provides only raw health or attack.

When screening drops, evaluate Power Stones based on these utility traits:

  • Hit Healing: The most critical sub-stat for both damage dealers and frontline Pokémon. A percentage of the damage dealt by basic attacks and active skills restores HP directly, keeping attackers alive without relying on revival timers.
  • Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage: Amplifies overall damage output. Combining high critical stats with multi-hit moves increases immediate burst damage and maximizes the health returned through Hit Healing.
  • Resist Status Conditions: Prevents boss-inflicted burn, paralysis, confusion, and poison from disabling your Pokémon during long battles.
  • Movement Speed: Helps melee defenders engage targets faster and allows ranged units to reposition away from telegraphed boss attacks.

Never recycle a lower-power stone that rolled with Hit Healing simply to keep a higher-value stone that provides only flat stats.

Move Stone Effects and Socket Roles

Move Stones fit into the small sockets linked to active skills on the Power-Up grid, changing how those skills behave during combat.

Move StonePrimary EffectBest Application
Sharing StoneShares a percentage of buff effects with party membersTeam support moves such as Bulk Up or Work Up
Whack-Whack StoneTriggers an immediate sequential recast of the moveHigh-impact offensive skills (e.g., Hydro Pump, Psychic)
Wait Less StoneDecreases the cooldown timer of the moveBuff skills, recovery moves, or long-recharge attacks
Broad StoneIncreases the attack's area of effect or projectile spreadMob-clearing skills and wide area-of-effect moves
Scatter StoneAdds extra projectiles while slightly reducing per-hit damageShotgun-style multi-projectile moves (e.g., Rock Throw)
Stay Strong StoneExtends the active duration of buffs and status effectsSecondary support moves and utility skills

Avoid stacking Whack-Whack Stones without considering animation locks. Because a Whack-Whack Stone forces a Pokémon to repeat its cast animation consecutively, it can leave a fragile attacker trapped inside an incoming boss strike. Using Wait Less Stones often provides safer, more consistent damage rotation without rooting the attacker in place.

Standard Team Synergy: Bulk Up and Sharing Stones

The standard team framework in Pokémon Quest consists of one dedicated buffer paired with two high-damage attackers:

  1. Obtain a Single-Move Buffer: Choose a support Pokémon with only one active move slot—such as Machop or Machamp running Bulk Up, or a Pokémon running Work Up—leaving all three linked Move Stone sockets available.
  2. Equip Three Sharing Stones: Each Sharing Stone shares a portion of the stat increases granted by the buff. Stacking three Sharing Stones distributes approximately 75% of the Attack and Defense buffs to both teammates.
  3. Maintain 100% Buff Uptime: Cast the buff move on cooldown so the shared offensive and defensive boosts never expire.
  4. Equip Hit Healing on Attackers: Equip your two damage dealers with Hit Healing Power Stones alongside offensive Move Stones (such as Wait Less or Whack-Whack). This allows them to replenish their own HP continuously while benefiting from the buffer's shared defensive shield.

Mid-to-Late Game Inventory Rules

Once you unlock World 7, change your inventory routine to preserve valuable utility rolls:

  • Lock All Hit Healing Stones: Immediately equip or preserve any stone with a Hit Healing roll, regardless of whether it is Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
  • Balance Sockets by Role: Attackers with mostly red (ATK) stone sockets still need two or three blue (HP) sockets to survive incidental area attacks long enough for Hit Healing to trigger. Conversely, defensive tanks require enough ATK sockets to deal sufficient damage to generate meaningful healing returns.
