To counter reactive enemies in Postknight 2 version 2.0, delay your dashes and primary weapon skills until after targets trigger their defensive reactions. Ground-based Pippops respond to aggressive approaches by dodging with hops and twitches, while aerial Flowerflies retreat backward to stay out of melee range. Attacking immediately upon seeing either enemy causes your skills to whiff and wastes cooldowns. Instead, approach on foot, let them commit to their evasive animations, and punish their recovery windows.
Countering Mischievous Pippop Evasion
Pippops react dynamically to incoming approaches rather than absorbing hits in place. If you trigger a gap-closer as soon as a Pippop enters the screen, the creature hops or sidesteps away, leaving you vulnerable during your skill recovery.
To reliably defeat Pippops:
- Bait the hop on foot: Walk toward the Pippop without burning your mobility or burst skills. Let the enemy commit to its evasive hop or twitch.
- Punish the recovery frame: Strike immediately after the Pippop lands back on the path. Its evasive cooldown prevents it from dodging a second time in quick succession.
- Pin them to screen edges: Push Pippops toward the right edge of the route or into trailing enemies. Compressing their movement space removes their ability to leap backward.
Pinning Down Timid Flowerflies
Flowerflies survive by drifting backward and hovering just outside melee reach. Chasing them recklessly pulls your Postknight into secondary stage hazards and trailing enemy waves.
To take down retreating Flowerflies:
- Block escape routes: Herd Flowerflies toward stage boundaries or into larger ground enemies behind them. When a retreat path is physically blocked, the retreat fails and the fly remains stationary.
- Strike during hover stalls: After a Flowerfly drifts backward to safe distance, it pauses in an idle hover before launching its next attack. Use this stationary window to dash in or land mid-range strikes.
- Avoid overextending: If moving forward risks hitting traps or dense ground packs, hold your ground. The Flowerfly will end its retreat cycle and fly forward to re-engage once your push stops.
Weapon Timing Against Reactive Foes
Each core weapon archetype interacts differently with the reactive movement introduced in the v2.0 overhaul. Adjust your skill timing around enemy recovery frames to maintain consistent hits.
| Weapon Type | Tactic vs. Pippops | Tactic vs. Flowerflies | Primary Strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sword & Shield | Block the initial feint, then counter during recovery. | Hold Shield Charge until the fly finishes its backward drift. | High defensive stability against reactive counters. |
| Daggers | Use multi-hit flurries to clip short-distance hops. | Trigger the dash skill to close the aerial retreat gap instantly. | Rapid hit tracking and immediate repositioning. |
| Heavy Hammer | Time the smash to land on the enemy's landing spot. | Use the wide vertical hitbox to swat targets out of the air. | Broad hitboxes that catch foes mid-evasion. |
Handling Mixed Route Waves
When Pippops and Flowerflies appear together, focus on controlling the aerial threat first. A lingering Flowerfly will continuously harass your Postknight from range while a ground Pippop occupies your guard.
Push forward to force the Flowerfly into its backward retreat, then redirect your initial weapon strike into the advancing Pippop. Clearing the ground target while the flyer is recovering its positioning prevents both enemies from coordinating their evasions and preserves your potion charges across the delivery route.
