To contest supply drops safely in PUBG MOBILE, approach each crate with a vehicle, clear surrounding sightlines before stopping, and conceal yourself behind overlapping smoke grenades while looting high-priority gear.
Supply drops contain high-tier equipment such as Level 3 armor and the AWM bolt-action sniper rifle. However, incoming cargo planes and rising red smoke draw competing players across the sector. Chasing crates on foot leaves you vulnerable to long-range fire, making motorized approaches and rapid inventory management essential.
Vehicle Selection and Approach Strategy
Always secure an enclosed vehicle before chasing an airdrop. A vehicle provides mobile cover on arrival, shields you while accessing the crate, and serves as an immediate extraction tool if an ambush begins.
| Vehicle Type | Approach Strength | Primary Vulnerability |
|---|---|---|
| UAZ (Closed Top) | Highest durability, reliable hard cover | Large target profile, slow acceleration |
| Dacia | High top speed, low-profile frame | Poor off-road hill climbing |
| Buggy | Strong off-road agility | Exposed passenger seat, low durability |
Watch the cargo plane's flight path and listen for the engine audio drop signaling crate release. Once the parachute deploys, identify the landing zone terrain. If the crate drops into wide-open fields or flat terrain, commit only if you have full vehicle health and smoke utility.
Clearing Sightlines Around the Crate
Driving directly up to a freshly grounded crate exposes your squad to snipers holding compound windows or elevated ridges. Scout the perimeter before coming to a complete stop:
- Circle the perimeter: Drive a wide circle 75 to 100 meters around the landing point to spot camped vehicles, open doors, or players rotating on foot.
- Scan elevated nests: Check ridge crests, nearby compound rooftops, and tree clusters facing the container.
- Bait enemy fire: Make a fast initial pass near the crate without stopping. Opponents waiting in ambush will frequently shoot early, revealing their positions before you dismount.
- Form a defensive wedge: Once the area is clear, park your vehicle tight against the crate container. This creates a V-shaped pocket between the chassis and the crate, blocking bullets from the most exposed angle.
Concealment and Fast Looting Sequence
Looting under open skies requires strict utility discipline. Deploy at least two Smoke Grenades before leaving your vehicle:
- Throw the first smoke directly onto the supply drop.
- Throw the second smoke toward the primary threat angle, such as an overlooking ridge or building cluster.
Wait for the smoke clouds to fully blossom before exiting the vehicle. Inside the cloud, prioritize your pick-ups to minimize time spent stationary:
- Equip Level 3 gear: Swap your helmet and vest immediately to increase damage mitigation.
- Take the crate weapon: If taking a sniper rifle like the AWM, drop your secondary weapon before opening the crate menu to prevent bag-space errors.
- Grab dedicated ammunition: Pick up the crate-exclusive .300 Magnum ammunition. The AWM spawns with only 20 rounds, which cannot be looted from standard floor spawns.
- Postpone attachment sorting: Do not organize scopes, muzzles, or magazines inside the smoke. Grab the core items, re-enter your vehicle, and drive to hard cover before configuring attachments.
Holding or Repositioning After the Drop
Once looted, a supply drop remains a visual magnet because of its rising red smoke. You have two options based on your squad's position and the circle phase:
- Reposition immediately: If the blue zone is closing or you lack clear defensive positions, drive immediately into the next circle zone to avoid getting pinched by late-arriving squads.
- Hold the drop as bait: If the crate sits in a favorable depression or below an overlooking hill, withdraw 80 to 120 meters to elevated cover. Monitor the crate with high-magnification optics. When competing teams stop to investigate the unlooted shell, engage the driver while they dismount in the open.
Limit drop pursuits to the early- and mid-game phases. As late-game circles shrink, player density rises sharply, making open-field supply crates too dangerous to contest without taking crossfire from multiple directions.

Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
This helped me understand strategy much better.
Nice guide. I am checking the other PUBG MOBILE articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
