Your primary action is to time your deflections against his combo chains, counter his perilous red-flash attacks, and deploy Sea Essence skills during posture staggers.

Deflecting Combos and Managing Posture

Passive blocking absorbs damage at the cost of rapid posture meter buildup, which quickly leads to a guard break and an immediate kill by the Shogun. To deflect incoming strikes without filling your own guard meter, tap the block button just as the Shogun's weapon begins its forward swing.

The Shogun primarily rotates between three melee patterns:

Triple Slash Sequence: A right-to-left sweep followed quickly by an upward crosscut and a downward slash. Deflect the first two strikes in a steady cadence, pause briefly, and deflect the third hit.
