To clear Blueberry Jam levels in Royal Match, you must spread jam across every target square by ensuring your matches and booster explosions directly touch existing jam tiles. Because clearing pieces on clean tiles does not generate new jam, moves made away from jammed areas waste your turn limit unless they set up an immediate connection.

How the Blueberry Jam Spread Mechanic Works

Blueberry Jam functions as a surface-coating mechanic. It requires an active seed tile or open jar to initiate propagation across the board.

Jam only expands under two strict conditions:

  • Normal Matches: At least one of the matched pieces must already sit inside a jam tile. Making a match adjacent to jam without overlapping it will not expand the spread.
  • Boosters and Explosions: A Rocket, TNT, or Light Ball only coats tiles along its blast path if the booster sits directly on a jam tile when detonated, or if the blast trail physically cuts through an active jam square.

Clearing unjammed sectors without connecting to existing jam achieves nothing toward the stage goal. Focus your opening turns exclusively on expanding outward from the initial seed tiles.

Booster Combinations on Jam Tiles

Relying on standard three-piece matches is too slow to cover large boards within standard move limits. You must combine boosters resting directly on jammed tiles to paint wide swathes of the board in a single move.

Booster CombinationJam Spreading EfficiencyBest Tactical Use
Light Ball + RocketHighestPaints multiple rows and columns across the entire board at once.
Light Ball + TNTVery HighClears massive areas and spreads thick patches around the blast points.
TNT + RocketHighClears a three-tile-wide cross pattern, ideal for punching through central barriers.
Rocket + RocketModerateClears a single cross pattern to reach a distant edge row or column.

The Light Ball and Rocket combo is the most effective clear tool in jam levels. Swapping a Light Ball with a Rocket on a jam tile transforms every piece of that Rocket's color into a rocket. Because the primary combo sat on jam, all secondary rocket paths convert their entire trails into jam. If a Light Ball rests on a clean tile, spend a turn maneuvering jam under it before activating the combo.

Using In-Level Items to Maintain Jam Trails

When moves run low or obstacles isolate unjammed corners, tactical inventory items can breach barriers without consuming turns:

  • Royal Hammer: Destroys a single piece or obstacle layer. Use it to drop a booster onto an adjacent jam tile, or clear an obstacle sitting on the final unjammed space when no matches are available.
  • Arrow: Clears an entire horizontal row. Firing an Arrow through a jammed tile forces the jam along the full width of that row.
  • Cannon: Clears an entire vertical column. Firing a Cannon through a jam tile carries the purple surface down the entire column, cutting through narrow vertical bottlenecks.

Many Blueberry Jam layouts place barriers, slats, chains, or choke points between the starting jam and the rest of the board.

Follow this sequence to avoid getting stranded late in the level:

  1. Break the primary barrier: Target the obstacles locking down the starting jam source before attempting anything elsewhere on the board.
  2. Bridge the gap: Route the jam through the opening immediately after breaking the bottleneck.
  3. Establish secondary spreads: Once a single tile on the far side of a barrier is coated, use that new anchor to build independent matches and booster combos in the newly opened section.
  4. Target isolated corners early: Leaving detached islands or outer columns unjammed until the final three turns often results in failure, as maneuvering matches into corners requires extra setup turns.
