To clear scattered mailboxes in Royal Match without running out of moves, stop spending individual turns on adjacent three-of-a-kind matches at the edges of the board. Instead, make matches in the bottom third of the grid to cause cascading tile falls, while assembling wide-clearing boosters—such as Rockets, TNT, and Light Balls—in the open center. Line-clearing effects damage separated mailboxes and collect released letters in a single turn, preserving your move limit.

Avoid Direct Adjacent Matches on Outer Boxes

Mailboxes require multiple hits to eject their letters. When stages place several mailboxes across separated corners or outer columns, attempting to clear each one with adjacent three-tile matches quickly depletes your turn counter while leaving central obstacles untouched.

Direct edge matches should only be taken when they immediately create a power-up or deliver the final hit to collect needed envelopes. Otherwise, spending a turn on a border tile causes minimal board disruption and fails to affect other targets.

Make Matches Low on the Board to Cause Cascades

Prioritizing matches in the lower rows causes every tile above that position to drop. This automatic movement provides two major advantages on mailbox levels:

  1. Passive Edge Hits: Falling tiles regularly align into automatic three-piece matches against the sides of mailboxes positioned along vertical lanes, dealing damage without dedicated turns.
  2. Incidental Booster Creation: As pieces drop from the top of the grid into open middle spaces, cascading matches often form Rockets and TNT clusters naturally.

If a stage also features crates, chains, or ice, opening up the center first ensures that falling tiles have enough room to create these chain reactions.

Clear Lanes Using Booster Combinations

Single Propellers target individual obstacles and are inefficient against boards with multiple mailboxes spread across disparate lanes. Instead, construct boosters that project across entire rows and columns simultaneously.

  • Light Ball + Rocket: Converts all tiles matching the paired Rocket's color into directional Rockets that sweep horizontally and vertically across the entire screen. This combination reliably damages mailboxes across opposite corners in a single action.
  • TNT + Rocket: Clears three full rows and three full columns in a wide cross pattern, piercing perimeter mailboxes on both axes.
  • Light Ball + TNT: Detonates large clusters across the board, clearing barriers directly adjacent to outer mailboxes that cannot be reached with standard matches.
  • Horizontal Rockets: Clear an entire row, allowing you to strike mailboxes stationed on the extreme left and right sides of the board with a single move.

Sweep Ejected Letters While Attacking

Striking a mailbox causes it to release letter tokens onto adjacent empty tiles, which must then be cleared by matching them or detonating boosters over them.

Triggering mailboxes early on a cramped board can backfire by filling scarce matching space with loose letters. By opening the center of the board first and relying on cross-lane booster blasts, your Rockets and TNT will damage the mailboxes and collect previously ejected letters along their blast paths in the same turn.
