Tapping a Super Light Ball directly in Royal Match clears the two colors with the highest tile counts currently on the board. A standard Light Ball clears only the single most abundant color, but an active Super Light Ball targets the top two simultaneously. Because targeting is determined strictly by quantity rather than random chance, you can steer which colors get eliminated by adjusting board counts before activating the booster.

How Color Priority Works

When you tap a Light Ball or Super Light Ball on its own instead of swiping it into an adjacent tile, the game calculates the frequency of every color on the active grid:

  • Standard Light Ball: Identifies the single most numerous color on the board and clears every tile of that color.
  • Super Light Ball: Identifies the first and second most numerous colors on the board and clears all tiles of both colors at the same time.
  • Tiebreakers: If two or more colors share the exact same count, internal board distribution logic breaks the tie.

For example, if the grid contains 20 yellow, 18 blue, 14 red, and 12 green tiles, tapping the Super Light Ball by itself will always clear every yellow and blue tile. Recognizing this rule allows you to predict the exact outcome of a solo detonation before spending a move.

Manipulating Tile Counts to Clear Obstacles

Many blockers—such as Cupboards, Magic Hats, and Mailboxes—require adjacent matches or color clears to take damage. If the tiles bordering these obstacles are not among the top two colors on the board, a direct detonation will leave the obstacles untouched.

You can force the Super Light Ball to target your obstacle color by using a single preparatory turn to shift the math:

  1. Identify the blocker color: Note which color directly borders the obstacle you need to damage.
  2. Estimate the board totals: Check whether that color ranks among the top two most abundant colors on the grid.
  3. Reduce the leaders: If your target color is sitting in third place, make a 3-gem match using the first- or second-place color.
  4. Detonate: Once your target color climbs into the top two counts, tap the Super Light Ball to clear it alongside the remaining leader.

Spending one setup move to lower a competing color guarantees that your booster hits the exact pieces wedged against your targets.

Solo Detonation vs. Booster Combinations

Players often spend multiple moves trying to drag a Propeller, Rocket, or TNT next to a Super Light Ball. While combos cover wide areas, forcing them together can waste turns without progressing level goals. Activating a Super Light Ball by itself is often the more efficient choice.

On a standard five-color board, eliminating two entire color pools leaves only three colors remaining. This sharp reduction routinely triggers automatic cascade matches as new tiles fall, often creating fresh Rockets, Propellers, and Light Balls without spending extra turns on positioning.

Pre-Tap Checklist

Before tapping a solo Super Light Ball, review these conditions:

  • Target Alignment: Do the two most common colors touch the primary obstacles you need to clear?
  • Cluster Preservation: Will clearing the top colors accidentally detonate or break apart existing booster setups you plan to use next?
  • Cascade Space: Does the board below the cleared colors have room to drop incoming tiles into your remaining objectives?

If the board counts already favor your target obstacles, tap the Super Light Ball immediately. If not, spend one turn clearing the dominant non-target color to take control of the blast.
