To beat Level 225 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, you must clear the stage progress meter by connecting matching colors in continuous horizontal lines from the left wall to the right wall while keeping the sand pile below the top boundary.
Win Conditions and Core Physics
Incoming blocks fall as solid shapes, but they disintegrate into loose sand upon hitting the container floor or existing piles. The sand grains then slide down slopes and settle into open spaces.
| Mechanic | Board Behavior | Player Action |
|---|---|---|
| Edge-to-Edge Line | Sand clears only when a single color continuously connects both walls | Commit matching pieces horizontally; do not isolate colors in tall towers |
| Sand Dissolution | Solid blocks break into loose grains on impact | Drop pieces into flat areas to prevent uncontrolled side runoff |
| Ceiling Limit | Sand resting above the top boundary line triggers an immediate loss | Maintain a low center of the board to absorb awkward shapes |
| Gravity Reset | Dissolving a lower band drops upper sand into the cleared space | Clear bottom layers to drop and consolidate split colors above |
Placement and Rotation Strategy
To complete color lines efficiently and prevent the board from clogging:
- Rotate shapes horizontally before dropping: Turn long bars, T-shapes, and Z-shapes so their widest flat side faces downward. Flat landings spread sand across a broad area, preventing steep mounds that cause grains to roll unpredictably.
- Fill valleys instead of crowning peaks: Drop incoming sand into dips and crevices between existing mounds. Keeping the surface level ensures incoming sand stretches all the way across the basin rather than rolling down into thin, broken strips.
- Anchor from the boundary walls: Drop new colors flush against the left or right wall. Using the outer wall contains outward drift, forcing the sand to build inward toward the center.
- Avoid trapping active colors: Never place a different color directly on top of an incomplete horizontal band. If an incoming piece does not match the line you are building, route it to an outer edge or an isolated corner to keep the main channel open.
- Use long horizontal bars to bridge gaps: Save flat bars to span remaining voids between two separate pools of the same color, instantly completing the line from wall to wall.
Overcrowding Recovery
When sand piles rise close to the top boundary, switch from long-term planning to immediate survival:
- Target the most complete mid-level color: Identify which color already spans most of the board's width, regardless of how deep it sits in the pile.
- Commit all incoming drops to that color: Use matching pieces to finish that specific connection immediately.
- Trigger downward collapses: Once that horizontal line dissolves, gravity pulls the overhead sand straight down. This drop flattens irregular peaks, reduces board height, and frequently joins fragmented clusters to set off automatic chain reactions.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This saved me time in the early game.
