Whenever your party levels up in Sea of Stars, choose MP whenever it appears on a character's bonus wheel. Character mana pools remain very small throughout the campaign—frequently staying under 20 points—meaning a single bonus point significantly increases total capacity. This extra pool allows heroes to chain high-impact skills, crowd control, and healing spells before needing basic attacks and Live Mana boosts to recover reserves.
When MP is not among the available options on the wheel, pick the offensive attribute that matches that character's primary skill scaling. Reserve defensive stats like HP, Physical Defense, and Magic Defense for rolls where neither MP nor the character's core damage stat appears.

Character Bonus Stat Priorities
Each hero relies on distinct scaling for their signature abilities and battlefield roles:
| Character | Primary Stat Priority | Secondary Stat Priority | Low / Skip Priority | Primary Combat Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zale | MP | Magic Attack | Physical Attack, Defenses | Sun lock breaker, burst magic damage, secondary healing |
| Valere | MP | Physical Attack | Magic Attack, Defenses | Moon lock breaker, kinetic rhythm damage, frontline brawler |
| Garl | MP | Physical Attack | HP, Physical Defense | Tank, physical displacement, support and revival (skip Magic Attack) |
| Seraï | MP | Physical Attack | Physical Defense, HP | Turn delay, speed utility, physical piercing (skip Magic Attack) |
| Resh'an | MP | Magic Attack | Physical Defense, HP | Arcane locks, crowd grouping, area magic (skip Physical Attack) |

How to Allocate Stats by Character
Zale
- Stat Priority: MP > Magic Attack > Physical Attack > Physical Defense
- Key Skills: Sunball, Dash Strike, Healing Light
Zale acts as your primary Solar offensive caster. Both Sunball and Dash Strike scale their damage from Magic Attack rather than his sword's base attack. Furthermore, the potency of Healing Light scales with Magic Attack, increasing his restoration output when party health drops. Physical Attack serves as a functional secondary option because standard sword swings are required to generate Live Mana pearls and satisfy weapon-lock vulnerabilities.
Valere
- Stat Priority: MP > Physical Attack > Magic Attack > Physical / Magic Defense
- Key Skills: Crescent Slash, Moonerang, Lunar Shield
Valere leans heavily into physical impact and kinetic positioning. Her basic staff swings and Crescent Slash rely directly on Physical Attack to break armored targets and reposition frontline groups. While Moonerang and Lunar Shield benefit from Magic Attack, boosting Physical Attack provides more reliable value across her regular attack loops. If neither MP nor Physical Attack rolls, select Magic Attack before taking defensive options.
Garl
- Stat Priority: MP > Physical Attack > HP / Physical Defense
- Key Skills: Hurl, Nourish, Cook, Rouse
Garl is a physical tank and support fighter with no Solstice magic in his kit. Magic Attack provides virtually zero combat value for him and should never be chosen. Allocate points to Physical Attack to increase the single-target impact of skills like Hurl. When offensive picks are unavailable, invest in HP and Physical Defense to reinforce his natural bulk, allowing him to absorb high-damage boss attacks and revive fallen allies.
Seraï
- Stat Priority: MP > Physical Attack > Physical Defense / HP
- Key Skills: Disorient, Phase Strike, Venom Flurry
Seraï provides rapid physical attacks and essential turn manipulation. Her Disorient skill pushes enemy action countdowns back, making expanded MP critical for delaying dangerous boss actions. All of her offensive actions—including Phase Strike and dart attacks—scale with Physical Attack. Disregard Magic Attack entirely on her wheel in favor of physical damage or baseline survivability.
Resh'an
- Stat Priority: MP > Magic Attack > Physical Defense / HP
- Key Skills: Abeyance, healing flasks, arcane attacks
Resh'an focuses on arcane element manipulation, team healing, and area displacement. Abeyance pulls enemies together while advancing their turn counters, requiring a dependable MP reserve to cast regularly. His damage output and splash healing scale from Magic Attack. Because his base defenses are relatively low, select Physical Defense or HP whenever the wheel fails to roll MP or Magic Attack.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
Can you add more details about heroes in a future update?
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
