To clear the First Commander Dungeon and arise both the Shadow Commander and the Ant King in Shadow Dungeon, you must defeat each boss within the dungeon timer and manually interact with their spectral remnants before leaving the stage. Surviving both encounters requires heavy single-target burst damage, lateral dodges against linear charges, and positioning control to avoid lingering hazard pools.
Stat Priorities and Team Preparation
Commander Dungeons punish broad, low-damage wave-clear builds. Boss shields and health pools demand high burst damage alongside sufficient movement speed to evade wide floor hazards.
| Stat or Role Focus | Recommended Target | Tactical Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Primary DPS | Critical strike chance and raw damage | Breaks shields quickly and shortens vulnerable boss windows |
| Crowd Control / Buffs | Stuns, slows, and defensive shields | Absorbs gap-closers and protects fragile damage dealers |
| Movement Gear | Base movement speed and dodge stamina | Escapes wide telegraphed red-zone attacks cleanly |
| Cooldown Haste | Skill haste and energy regeneration | Prepares high-impact ultimates before entering boss rooms |
Level all active combat skills before launching your run. Relying on basic attacks or entering under-leveled risks running out of time during multi-phase boss shields.
Clearing Mob Rooms Efficiently
Do not charge into the center of mob clusters. Rooms before the commander encounters spawn coordinated enemy packs that attempt to flank and body-block your lineup.
- Kite along the outer perimeter. Pull enemy packs toward open ground and circle the edges while applying mid-range area attacks.
- Reserve high-impact skills. Save your strongest single-target abilities and ultimate bursts for the elite mini-bosses guarding room exits.
- Finish stragglers with basic attacks. Conserve your energy meters and cooldowns on low-health enemies so your main abilities are ready the moment you cross into the boss arena.
Defeating the Shadow Commander
The Shadow Commander relies on wide sweeping cleaves and heavy forward thrusts. Standing directly in front of this boss will quickly wipe vulnerable units.
Maintain a mid-range spacing to bait his forward charge. When the narrow red trajectory locks onto your position, dodge laterally out of the lane. After completing his strike, the Shadow Commander enters a recovery state lasting approximately two to three seconds. Unleash your defense-shredding debuffs and single-target bursts during this opening, then pull back before he resets into his defensive guard. Repeat this cycle until his health depletes.
Defeating the Ant King
The Ant King features higher mobility than the Shadow Commander, frequently leaping across the arena and spitting persistent acid pools.
- Direct acid toward the walls. Fight along the arena edges so corrosive ground pools do not cover the center floor.
- Track landing shadows. Watch the floor markers when the boss leaps or burrows, dodging laterally right as he descends.
- Punish posture breaks. Once his posture bar shatters, unload all stored ultimate abilities while he remains stunned.
- Clear worker ants immediately. Do not let summoned adds distract your auto-targeting or chip through active shields.
How to Arise Both Bosses
Defeating the bosses does not automatically recruit them. Once both encounters conclude, their spectral remnants appear on the arena floor with distinct interaction prompts. Approach each remnant directly and trigger the Arise interaction before the stage completion sequence ends.
Securing both units expands your active lineup capabilities:
- Shadow Commander: Serves as a frontline defensive unit that draws enemy aggro and applies protective buffs to adjacent allies.
- Ant King: Operates as a fast assassin shadow that deals rapid multi-hit damage and applies passive poison to high-health targets.

This helped me understand strategy much better.
This saved me time in the early game.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
