To beat heavy Axis armor pushes in SIEGE: World War II, let the enemy tank cross the lane bridge into your territory, absorb its initial weapon cooldown with disposable infantry, and place anti-tank squads on the flank while using ordnance to clear escort troops.
Maintain Supply Discipline Against Opening Vehicles
Axis heavy armor requires a high Supply investment. Rushing your units into the midfield during the opening seconds often trades resources unfavorably against German armored spearheads.
- Open with low-cost units: Deploy basic scout infantry or defensive fortifications near your side of the river rather than committing unassisted vehicles into neutral territory.
- Bank your Supply reserves: If the enemy deploys a heavy tank from the back of their base, allow your Supply bar to pool near maximum capacity instead of reacting immediately.
- Engage on your side of the bridge: Wait for the enemy vehicle to cross the midline threshold so your base defensive fire can assist your troops.
Layer Infantry Screens to Protect Bazooka Squads
Deploying naked rocket units directly in front of approaching armor leads to failure. German tanks and their mounted machine guns will eliminate Bazooka squads before they can fire a second shot.
Always create a staggered screen:
- Drop Riflemen first: Place cheap Riflemen squads a few paces ahead of the advancing armor. This forces the tank to lock its target and expend its opening attack on disposable units.
- Flank with Bazookas: Once the vehicle targets the forward screen, deploy Bazookas at maximum range or off to the side. Flanking prevents the tank's main cannon and machine guns from turning toward your primary damage dealers.
| Axis Threat | Primary Risk | Allied Response | Trade Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panzer IV | Fast push with balanced anti-infantry fire | Staggered Riflemen screen with flanking Bazookas | Favorable Supply trade against mid-tier armor |
| Tiger Tank | High health pool and bunker-crushing damage | Defensive minefield, rear Bazookas, and Air Strike | Halts high-cost push and drains enemy Supply |
| Mechanized Escort | Armored transport shielding shock troops | Precision Artillery on escort, then frontline armor | Wipes secondary wave before bunker contact |
Clear Escort Infantry with Tactical Ordnance
Targeting cards like Air Strikes and Artillery should be held for infantry escorts rather than spent solely on solo tank hulls. A heavy tank stripped of its infantry support is easily dismantled by ground troops, but an armored vehicle shielded by shock troops or mortars will overwhelm defensive lines.
Wait until the vehicle crosses the bridge and the accompanying infantry clumps tightly behind it. Drop an Air Strike or Artillery barrage directly onto the escort. Eradicating the infantry cluster allows your surviving defensive troops to focus entirely on the isolated tank.
Launch an Immediate Counter-Push
After eliminating an expensive Axis armored column, the opposing player will operate at a low Supply deficit. Transition immediately into an offensive push before they can rebuild their defenses.
- Deploy lead armor: Place a Sherman tank or M3 Lee directly in front of your surviving Bazookas and rifle squads.
- Advance across the bridge: Use your fresh vehicle to draw incoming fire from enemy bunkers while your surviving veterans deal damage from behind.
- Suppress reinforcements: Deploy tactical smoke or strafing runs on newly spawned Axis defensive squads to maintain lane momentum.
Protect the Opposite Flank from Split Pushes
Heavy armor is frequently used as a distraction down one lane to bait defensive commitments before launching a secondary strike on the opposite flank.
- Anchor the secondary lane: Place an automated defensive bunker or emplacement on the quiet side to delay split pushes.
- Hold reserve ordnance: Avoid expending both your Air Strike and heavy artillery in a single lane fight; keep one reactive card ready for unexpected threats.
- Maintain midline vision: Keep scouts near the center perimeter to detect surprise infantry or light vehicles before they reach your bunkers.
