To play Duo Wave Defense in Star Trek Fleet Command, you must reach Operations level 61 and team up with an alliance member who also meets the requirement. Introduced in Update 90: Starfleet Academy, this endgame activity requires two players working in tandem to clear escalating waves of hostile ships. It cannot be launched or completed solo.

Access Requirements

Before attempting Duo Wave Defense, verify that both players meet the entry conditions:

  • Operations Level: Both commanders must be Operations level 61 or higher.
  • Alliance Membership: You must team up with a fellow member of your alliance.
  • Session Commitment: Ensure both players have sufficient repair items and supplies ready before launching, as abandoning mid-session forfeits potential progression.

Fleet Roles and Positioning

Because enemy difficulty scales as waves progress, success depends on dividing combat responsibilities between both fleets:

  1. Assign Combat Roles: Have one player focus on high damage output to clear hostile clusters quickly, while the other emphasizes fleet survivability or support to handle heavy fire.
  2. Manage Target Positioning: Keep fleets positioned to prevent either commander from becoming isolated or overwhelmed. Intercept hostiles targeting your partner if their ship takes heavy fire.
  3. Coordinate Ability Timing: Save limited-use buffs and high-impact fleet abilities for later waves, particularly when high-tier or boss-level hostile clusters spawn.

Wave Progression and Rewards

Hostile ships gain increased hull integrity and damage output with each consecutive wave. Duo Wave Defense rewards are tiered based on how far your team progresses through the full wave sequence.

To maximize returns, focus on consistent clear routines with a regular alliance partner rather than attempting unsafe runs that end in early failures. Progressing deeper into the wave sequence yields significantly higher returns than settling for early exits.
